A: None of them can legally travel on the Merritt Parkway.

On 08/17/2022, in a matter of an hour, all of the vehicles shown in the photo below (and more) were stopped by members of the CSP Traffic Services Unit.

As a reminder, the following vehicles are prohibited from traveling on Connecticut parkways:

• All Commercial Vehicles
• Box trucks (including rental trucks)
• Recreational Vehicles (RVs)
• Trailers/Towing
• Campers
• Vehicles Displaying Advertising

Your CT State Troopers want you to stop on RED lights and stop signs this week and every week! Too many accidents occur due to drivers running a red light or a stop sign. Please come to a complete stop at stop signs and red traffic lights. Watch for pedestrians and bicyclists, as well as other vehicles. Be safe out there everyone!

The first step to getting your license is getting your permit! The Next Street now offers a Permit Prep Tutoring Course, so you can feel confident in your ability pass your permit test on the first try.

This expert-created, interactive class runs for 2-hours and is taught live on Zoom by a licensed TNS instructor to a small group. It will cover everything you need to know from the CT Driver's Manual, and allows time for open discussion and clarification on anything you have questions about.

After careful debate and discussion, we have decided that it is time to remove our mask requirement at The Next Street, effective immediately 7.11.22.

Please note:
- The DMV still requires masks during license tests. All testing students will be required to wear a mask.
- Windows must still be at least cracked open during ALL lessons to create airflow.
- At the beginning of every drive, there will be a new Covid Questionnaire. If you have tested positive for Covid within the last 10 days, masks must be worn for that lesson by you and the instructor. If you have tested positive for Covid within the last 5 days, the lesson will not go on and must be rescheduled, regardless of mask usage.
- If you are requesting your instructor to wear a mask, you must wear one too.
- Though we have chosen to remove our mask requirement, many instructors may opt to require masks in their own car. We are prepared to wear a mask if you request it and ask that if an instructor requests you wear one, you respect their wishes.

Juneteenth commemorates the freedom of the last enslaved African Americans in 1865. Despite the Emancipation Proclamation ending slavery in 1863, it could not be implemented in places still under Confederate control, and so for two and a half more years, there were still enslaved people in the United States.

On June 19th, 1863, more than 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas, announcing that enslaved people were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as "Juneteenth" by freedmen in Texas, and the tradition later spread as Black people migrated across the country. Texas was the first state to make Juneteenth an official holiday in 1979, and it is now a national holiday in the United States as of June 17, 2021.

Celebrate and commemorate Juneteenth: Support Black owned businesses, read books by Black authors, donate to organizations that support Black communities, and continue to learn more about Black history.
