Makeup will ONLY turn out as good as your skin!! The more textured your skin is, the heavier the makeup will look and the less it will sink in.
Please DO NOT expect makeup to solve several years of not having a solid skincare routine or a replacement for medical treatments.
As a makeup artist, I always tell my clients that you have to go 50% and then I’ll go the other 50%. It’s a TAG TEAM effort.

I always say this but please TRUST your artist! You hire vendors to know what to do and to help you in the wedding planning process. So please don’t hire a vendor you think can’t get the job done!
A lot of brides in the past have been anxious about when things “should” get done or when things need to happen. Most vendors work on their own timeline and will initiate contact whenever that milestone happens❤️

After a great deal of thought… I have decided to start advertising as a more glam makeup artist!! 🤩 Don’t get me wrong… I still am always going to specialize in natural looks, but I will be grabbing some models here soon and posting some more dramatic styles! Get prepared 😜

As makeup artists, we want a brides wedding day to go as smoothly as possible!! These are some things I came up with that a bride may not have thought about ❤️

HOW TO FIND THE PERFECT MAKEUP ARTIST FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY! ⬇️
1) Picture your ideal bridal makeup look.. what does it look like? What colors would you want? How intense do you want it?
2) Use social media! Ask for referrals on Facebook and TONS of brides will refer you to the artists they know and trust 🥰 Instagram is another great resource. Try using hashtags using your location you live in or the one where your wedding is located. For instance or
3) Once you have found a handful of artists … check out their work! One size does not fit all and that is the same with makeup artists. Each of them will specialize in certain styles such as natural, full glam, etc. Does that artist you found match what style you are looking for as well? Finding someone who specializes in the look you want will ensure that artist will 100% be able to accomplish what you want. 😍
4) Reach out & book that artist! Most artists will have a website and or inquiry form for you to fill out. There you will be able to give your artist your wedding details and they’ll be able to give you more info as well :) Please keep in mind that makeup artists operate like other wedding vendors and will most likely require a contract and deposit to book.

TIMELINE/SCHEDULING TIPS for brides for your wedding morning:

1) Getting ready location- are you getting ready at house, hotel, venue? This will determine how early applications will be able to start. Some venues for instance don’t let brides in until 8/9 am so if there needs to be more time, an alternative location might need to be arranged. Whereas if brides get ready at a house or hotel, the start time can be more flexible!

2) Bridal party size- This goes without saying but the more people a bride has for makeup, the longer applications will take and the earlier they will have to start. My average start time for a larger party is 7am so don’t be shocked if your artist/hairstylists tells you this.

3) Ready by time- This is NOT the same thing as the ceremony start time. This is normally coordinated by your photographer. This is the time that ALL applications need to be done by for photos. Keep in mind that you should allow extra time for first looks, getting ready photos, robe shots, etc. and also allow some time to get some food! I’ve found that the simplest solution to this is to make the “ready by time” the same time as the photographer arrives or maybe overlapping by 15-20 mins so they can have time to snap a few photos and get set up!

FOUNDATION TIPS FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN:

1) Less is more! Our natural instinct is to use a SUPER full coverage foundation and layer it on to immediately cover up. However, this method will not only look the heaviest/cakiest but will also clog your pores even more which could worsen the skin condition! 😬 Instead, build up in layers and only apply concealer where you need it.

2) Use a GREEN color corrector. We’ve all heard of color correction after it became a popular trend in the mid 2000s. BUUUTT… this is not a just a “trend” it’s been used by makeup artists for a long time before that! It all goes down to the basic color wheel that you learned in grade school. We need to look at which color is the opposite of RED on the color wheel … and guess what color that is? GREEN! Otherwise known as a complimentary color. No, you don’t need to pile on the green concealer, just enough to neutralize the redness and only concentrate it in the areas that are actually red. ❤️💚

3) Say NO to GLOW! Any luminizing or highlighting products automatically reflect light which means that more attention will be drawn to that area. Because of this, any texture will automatically look MORE textured. This is why we want to stay away from any glowy products especially around the areas that are more textured. Instead, try using matte/satin finish foundations, matte bronzers, blushes, etc. and setting it with a good powder 😁

Makeup artists are not plastic surgeons 🔪… we cannot change the structure of your face, take away textured areas, or reverse 10 years of aging.

We can only work with what you’ve got which is why taking care of yourself externally and internally is super important! 🙌🏻This will overall lead to better skin hence a better end result with makeup :)

For external - I highly recommend consulting with an esthetician and getting regular facials about 4-6 months out from your big day. This will allow your skin to normalize itself and clear up in time. ❤️

For internal- drinking lots of water!! 💦💧This not only keeps you hydrated but it also drastically helps the condition of your skin as well.

Everyone comes from different walks of life.. but the one thing we all have in common is that we’ve all had feelings of self-doubt at least once in our lives…
You start to feel worthless, hopeless, or lack motivation because you are unsure of your path in life….WELL … I’m here to tell those that need to hear is that YOU CAN!!
You can do everything you set your mind too. Now I’m not saying that the things you want will just fall into your lap. You’re going to have to put forth all of your effort! This just makes your goal 10x more rewarding whenever you accomplish it 🙂 No matter how hard life may seem, just know that there are others that have it WAY worse than you. So live your life to its fullest potential and YOU CAN!!! 😊

A TON of people no matter if you are a business owner or not, have felt down and fell victim to playing the comparison game with other people. Haven’t we all?🤷🏻‍♀️
For those that need to hear it, small progress is still progress!! I always tend to compare myself to the artists who seem constantly booked and have over 50 weddings booked per year and go.. what am I doing wrong?? NOTHING!! I’m doing nothing wrong. Even looking back at last year, I’ve grown! It may not be super significant but I’ve still grown. ❤️
Everyone goes at their own pace and we need to stop comparing ourselves to those that have been in the game longer than we have.

Bride Touch Kits = A MUST HAVE!! ❤️🙌🏻.

I've discovered that not many makeup artists (especially those in my area), don't offer touch up kits to their clients. Yes, some would argue that the makeup will last all day so it is unnecessary. but…
It's more than just adjusting things, it's about security! Brides go for 10+ hours a day and weddings can get a little crazy! You can't necessarily predict what will happen from a bride crying to accidentally spraying champagne in her face... It's always good to have "what if" products.
It's just an added bonus for brides even if they never touch her during the day. It's just a way to show that they were thought of on their special day 😊
