Had a great day taking Greg fishing yesterday. He caught a bunch of fish, including a couple beautiful .

No filter on this one. Just got home from a day on the Rose River. Had a ton of fun today with Greg! More pictures tomorrow!

Get to Know Your Guide:

I’m Kaitlin Groundwater. While Hook Set Fly Fishing has been around since just 2019 I’ve been fishing the DC, MD, and VA area since I was a child. I grew up learning to fly fish while chasing smallmouth in the Shenandoah River with my father and have been obsessed ever since. While attending college at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) I spent my summers in Montana working at a fly fishing lodge in Paradise Valley, immersing myself in the sport. After college, I began working with Orvis Woodbridge where I taught fly fishing classes and began guiding clients across Virginia. In 2015, in search of furthering my career in the industry, I moved to Ennis, Montana where I managed a premier fly fishing lodge. I returned to Virginia in 2018 to start my own guiding and instruction service.

When I’m not fishing I enjoy cooking, crabbing, and cheering on all things UNC. In addition to running Hook Set Fly Fishing I will be studying law at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School beginning this fall.
