DUTIES MAY INCLUDE: PROPBLEM SOLVING & ORGANIZATION. KEEPING SPACES AND AREAS NEAT, TIDY AND STOCKED. ANSWERING INCOMING CALLS, TAKING MESSAGES, SCHEDULING EMPLOYEES AND OR CREWS, SCHEDULING SERVICE DATES. THE ABILITY TO USE MICROSOFT OFFICE, AND GENERAL TYPING SKILLS ARE NEEDED AS WELL AS THE ABILITY TO CREATE AND ORGANIZE DOCUMENTS ON COMPANY LAPTOP. QUICKBOOKS EXPERIENCE IS A BONUS, HOWEVER NOT NECESSARY. SOME DUTIES CAN BE DONE OFF-SITE, AND IN-HOME FOR AN HONEST, RESPONSIBLE AND DEPENDABLE CANDIDATE.

OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE: LAUNDRY ATTENDENT, LIGHT CLEANING OF SPACES AND ORGANIZATION. RUNNING ERRANDS, PICKING UP SUPPLIES, ETC.

My uncle runs a local cleaning business here in MB servicing privately owned condos and houses. Most of our family here helps in this endeavor and most of us who work for him are not just housekeepers, we have other jobs as well. We just kind of fell into this position but honestly, who can complain when doing almost anything while having a gorgeous view of the ocean, right?
I just wanted to extend some tips to those who may be traveling (not just here but anywhere) and would like to show their housekeeper some courtesy.
First off, keep in mind that we do have hard deadlines. Check out (for our units) is 10am and check-in is 3. This means we have 5 hours to clean ALL of our units and have them ready for the next guest. Your late check-out effects the next guest!!! MB in general is experiencing an employee shortage and our business (as most all businesses) is also being affected by that. We are hustling, short handedly, to make sure the next guest walks into a clean unit. Please don't set us up for failure.
Second, and closely related to my first point, please don't trash the place. We (and all other rentals) have those long list of things to do when checking out for a reason. If we have to go thru that checklist, again, the next guest is effected. I'm not asking you to clean everything, that is my job BUT if I have to go thru and pick up trash (not in trash cans), strip linens from the beds, chase down towels, etc that eats into actual cleaning time. Some of our units are HUGE (9+ bedrooms, 5+ bathrooms) and while picking up food wrappers and clothing tags, taking linens off of beds and piling all the towels together doesn't sound like a huge deal, in a place that big it can take over a half hour of my cleaning time. And for what it's worth, I'm not (nor are most housekeepers) paid by the hour. If these things happen at every unit I clean in a day, my whole timeline can be setback by hours. Which also means the next guest's check-in can be delayed that long as well. NO ONE likes to travel hours to their destination to be told their unit isn't ready for check-in. Please don't contribute to that.
Third, and I thought this went without saying but apparently not; please don't leave blood and f***s on/in the toilets!!!! I get it, s**t happens, but please don't "leave it for the maid". It's gross and a hazard in general.
All that said, there are things that I love to see when a guest leaves...
To see those little prints left behind on the windows by your babies (even the fur baby nose prints) just warms my heart. I can only imagine their wonderment in seeing that big, beautiful ocean and smashing their little face against the glass to get a closer look. Seriously, don't stress over the prints on the glass. Let them touch and look. I'll happily clean that up.
Truthfully, I get way too excited over leftover groceries left behind. I'm not talking leftover takeout and half eaten food in the fridge. I mean the boxes of cereal that were never opened, plastic cups still in the plastic sleeve, k-cups, individually wrapped ice cream or other food items. Many times those have served as my lunch because I was too busy to grab something on the way to another unit. And every day I come home, my kids bombard me with questions of "was there anything left behind". They get so excited when I bring stuff home. Thank you!
Also, a little touchy subject but it happens...I totally understand emergencies. Those times where something happened back at home and you had to leave in a hurry. Don't ever feel bad about that. I am human and can totally empathize with that panicked feeling. Do not let that unit itself add to your panic. Chances are, if you told the rental agency you had an emergency and need to leave, the housekeeper knows. I will never be upset in doing extra cleaning if I know it meant you were able to take care of your emergency. Just go.
And lastly, I will make sure anything you obviously forgot is returned to you. Kids toys/blankets, jewelry, medical supplies, etc. I know they are important.
Ultimately, I want everyone to have a good time while on vacation. I also want to see everyone get into their units on time. Help me help you ♥️
