The OKK9 Board meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled. Our next board meeting will be August 30 at 10am.

As a small rural non-profit organization, we are no longer able to absorb the 3% credit card fee we are charged by our card processor. Unfortunately, these fees cost our organization an average of $5,000 a year. We have made the difficult decision to pass along this cost to our customers, like most lake area businesses have been doing for some time. Going forward, as of 7/18/23, when charging a shelter or thrift store purchase on a credit card, an automatic 3% fee will be added to the total. You can avoid this surcharge by paying with cash or debit card. We appreciate your understanding and support of our shelter.

The SHELTER BUILDING will be CLOSED to the public on Saturday 4/29/23. Appointments for pre-approved adoptions can be scheduled for that morning by appointment only. The THRIFT STORE will be open as usual that day.

Wristbands are available at both the thrift store and shelter building or by calling Encore. We are still looking for donations for our silent auction and door prizes. If you have something you would like to donate to the cause, please call the shelter at 573-374-2629.

Our employees who are able to get out will still come in to take care of the animals. Emails to the shelter and Facebook messages will be monitored throughout the day, but our office will be closed so phones will likely go unanswered. If you call, make sure to leave a message so we can get back to you as soon as we are able to do so. Stay safe if you must get out in bad weather--your pets will miss you if you don't make it home!

We will be CLOSED to the public on Saturday and Sunday for the New Year's holiday. Our dedicated staff will be on site both days to care for the animals. Emails and Facebook messages will be checked periodically throughout the weekend and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Due to impending inclement weather and freezing temperatures along with the holidays, both the Thrift Store and the Shelter Building will be CLOSED to the public from Thursday 12/22 through Monday 12/26. We expect to reopen regular business hours on Tuesday 12/27.

A slight change to our upcoming holiday closures. Both the shelter building and thrift store will be closed to the public Dec 24-26 in observation of Christmas. Our dedicated staff will be on site those days to care for the animals, but the store and shelter office will be closed. We will reopen on Tuesday 12/27 for our regular hours.

Our New Year's closures will be Saturday 12/31 and Sunday 1/1.
