Join AARP Wisconsin, the Greater Madison MPO, and the City of Sun Prairie on a walk and roll audit around the Sun Prairie Public Library as part of the Week Without Driving initiative!

The walk audit will be taking place on Monday October 5th from 1pm to 3pm and will be starting and ending at the Sun Prairie Public Library at 1350 Linnerud Dr, Sun Prairie, WI 53590 with about 45 minutes spent actively walking and auditing the areas around the library. The audit will explore pathways to and from the library along Walker Way, including areas of W Main St that have received safety improvements in recent years, and routes that connect Westside Elementary School and the Library.

A walk audit is a simple activity in which an individual or a team observes and evaluates the walkability of a location to document how and if pedestrians can safely travel along a street, navigate an intersection and get from point A to B, C and so on. There will be an emphasis on perspectives of folks with vision impairment, mobility issues on top of broader pedestrian. The week without driving initiative is a national event intended to give “those who have the option to drive can learn firsthand about the barriers and challenges that nondrivers
face.”

On June 2, the Common Council approved changes to the City’s polling places. These changes were in effect during the August Partisan Primary Election.

The new polling place model will improve election operations by simplifying absentee ballot transportation, streamlining communication with election officials, and allowing staff to provide more direct support at each location throughout Election Day.

Each polling place will be staffed and equipped based on expected voter turnout to help ensure an efficient voting experience while maintaining the accuracy, security, and integrity of the election process.

To avoid surprises on Election Day, voters are encouraged to verify their polling place by visiting https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Find-My-Polling-Place

🚲 Can You Help Us Get Two Riders Rolling? 💙

We have a couple of bike needs for our SFTSM families!

🚲 Women’s adult bike — One of our moms does not have a vehicle and could use a bike to help her get to and from work.

💙 Balance/Stryder bike — One of our little guys is ready to learn how to ride, and we’d love to find him a balance bike to get him started!

🔒 Bike locks — We could also use a few sturdy bike locks to help keep everyone’s bikes safe.

Gently used items are absolutely welcome! If you have something sitting in your garage that could help one of our families, we’d be so grateful.

Thank you for always showing up for our moms and kiddos in such practical ways! ❤️
