Hi everyone! My name is Ottis, and I’m the only bull on the farm—so yes, I take my job very seriously. I made my way to my new home from God’s Country Ranch in Walland, Tennessee in July 2025, and I’ve been settling in and getting to know the place ever since. I celebrated my first birthday in December, officially graduating from “youngster” to “handsome young bull.” I’m a solid white Highland with big hair, sturdy horns, and a (mostly) sweet and easygoing disposition—though I like to remind everyone that I still have a little bull attitude now and then. These days, you’ll usually find me enjoying good hay, keeping an eye on the herd, and soaking up the attention. I’m excited about the future and proud of the role I’ll play here, with many years ahead of me and, hopefully, lots and lots of healthy calves to come.

Bella is the kindest Highland cow on the farm! Originally from Mississippi, she joined us in March 2025 and celebrated her first birthday in September. Her calm, gentle nature and friendly disposition make her an absolute joy to feed and pet. With her soft eyes and fluffy red coat, she truly is the sweetheart of the pasture.

Meet Sable!
Sable is the only black Highland cow at the Real McCoy Family Farm. She is one year old and was born in Mississippi. She’s not the friendliest girl in the pasture and prefers to keep her distance — unless Momma’s around! Sable definitely favors her Momma over her Daddy and always makes sure he knows it. While she might not seek attention like her sisters, she’s still a beautiful and special member of our Highland family.

"Hi friends! My name is Ruby, and I’m one of the big, beautiful Highland cows here at the Real McCoy Family Farm. I’m 2 years old and was born in North Carolina. Eating is my favorite pastime, though my older sisters, Lou Lou and Elsie, don’t always like to share and tend to push me around. I especially love treats—that’s why you’ll often see my tongue hanging out, hoping to snag one! I also like to keep things exciting by playfully charging toward whoever is feeding me (don’t worry, I usually stop in time!). Momma says I scare her, but I just think it’s all in good fun."

Meet Elsie! She was born in June 2023 in Mississippi and is now 2 years old. At the farm, she has three sisters—Lou Lou, Bella, and Sable. Compared to her sister Lou Lou, Elsie is a bit friendlier and can be quite the sweetheart (when she wants to be). She especially enjoys proving to Ruby that she’s the boss at mealtime. Elsie loves being brushed and petted, but don’t be surprised—she’ll quickly let you know if she’s not getting the attention she feels she deserves!

Our farm family began many years ago with the adoption of two donkeys, Festus and Millie, who were in need of a loving home. In 2023, our fold of Highland cows began to grow when Lou Lou and Elsie arrived from Mississippi. The following year, Ruby joined us from North Carolina, along with Bella and Sable from Mississippi. In 2025, we welcomed Otis from Tennessee, who will one day be the proud stud of our fold. Today, our farm is also home to about 45 egg-laying chickens, and from time to time, a few pigs, meat chickens, and turkeys join in the mix, making our little farm family all the livelier."

Meet Lou Lou! She was one of the very first Highland cows to join us here at Real McCoy Family Farm. At 2 years old, Lou Lou has quite the personality—sometimes sweet, but most often a bit standoffish. She’s the leader of the fold (that’s the traditional name for a group of Highland cows) and makes sure everyone knows it. Her absolute favorite time of day is feeding time… though she’s not exactly the best at sharing her food!
