And that's a wrap for the Sumter Bulls Blue 9U season!

What a year it has been for this group of ballplayers. From the very first practice to the final out, these boys embraced every challenge, put in the work, and continued to raise the standard for what Bulls baseball looks like.

This team logged plenty of miles this season, competing against some of the best competition around while traveling to Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville. No matter where they played, the Blue Crew showed up ready to compete and represented Sumter the right way.

The season started with a bang as the Bulls captured the championship in Walterboro, battling through a 16-team field to bring home the first title of the fall. They weren't finished there. The boys followed that up with championships at the NIT Warm-Up Event and the Mother's Day One-Day Tournament in Columbia, finishing the year with three Gold Bracket Championships and a Gold Bracket Finalist appearance.

One of the most exciting parts of the season was watching the offense explode as confidence grew throughout the year. The Bulls launched 13 home runs during the season, including four bombs during the Mother's Day Tournament and two more during the NIT Warm-Up Event. The season concluded with the Bulls playing up an age division in Walterboro, taking on 10U competition and finishing 2-2 while launching five home runs over the weekend. It was a fitting way to end the year and a perfect example of how much these players developed throughout the season.

Several players joined the Home Run Club for the first time this season:

💣 Grayson Barr – First Career Home Run
💣 Sawyer Keefe – First Career Home Run
💣 Mason Woodcock – First Career Home Run
💣 Carson Woodcock – First Career Home Run
💣 Davis Williams
💣 Hammond Frost

When the dust settled, the accomplishments were impressive:

🏆 3 Gold Bracket Championships
🥈 1 Gold Bracket Finalist Finish
🥉 1 Gold Bracket 3rd Place Finish
⭐ 50 All-Tournament Selections
🔥 2 Tournament MVP Awards
🎯 2 Tournament MVPitcher Awards
🇺🇸 Ranked 30th Nationally among 9U AA Teams
📍 Ranked 14th in South Carolina among 9U AA Teams

But more important than the trophies, rankings, and awards was the growth. This group became better teammates, better competitors, and better young men. They learned how to battle through adversity, celebrate each other's success, and trust the work they put in every week.

A huge thank you goes out to the parents for the countless miles, weekends away from home, and unwavering support throughout the season. None of this happens without you.

To the players: be proud of what you accomplished. The future is bright, and this season was only the beginning.

Rounding out the 9U Bomb Squad… Ham-Bone! 💣🐂

Hammond has been a power threat from Day 1. The biggest challenge this season was fine-tuning his timing and adjusting to live pitching, but once everything clicked, watch out!

Ham-Bone launched 4 bombs this spring, starting with a big-time blast during the Mother’s Day Tournament and finishing the season in style with two more home runs last weekend in Walterboro against 10U competition.

Whether it’s crushing baseballs, showing off a professional-level home run trot, or delivering an all-time celebration at home plate, Hammond always brings the energy. He’s also a dugout spark plug who somehow manages to keep both his teammates fired up and the umpires in check. 😂

Keep hitting tanks, Boo Bear! 🐻💣🐂

The Boomba Squad wouldn’t be the same without you! 💪🔥

And We Still Aren’t Done! 💣⚾

The brick-wall backstop Davis also known as “CHATGPT” got in on the Bulls home run party last weekend in Walterboro, launching two bombs and reminding everyone that the power is still very much alive!

After showing flashes of that big-time pop back in 8U, Davis officially broke through this weekend. He crushed a 3-run tank in Game 1 to get things started, then put the finishing touches on the weekend with a solo shot to lead off the 4th inning in the final game.

As impressive as the home runs were, the real highlight might have been the moonwalk across home plate. Fresh? Absolutely. Confidence level? Through the roof. 😎🐂

Trusting the process paid off, and brought a little extra POP, energy, and swagger to the lineup this weekend.

Keep swingin’ it, D-Money! Check the comments for the first homerun!

The second half of the Twin Killers joins the Bomb Squad!

We highlighted Mason’s first home run earlier this season, but he was far from finished. Mason launched three more bombs this spring, bringing his season total to four home runs!

Mason delivered a huge knockout blow against the Lexington Raptors in the Gold Bracket Championship back in April, then followed Hammond’s lead by going back-to-back jacks against the Cannons in the Gold Bracket Championship game of the Mother’s Day Tournament. (I’m starting to notice a trend here!)

One thing about Mason — he stays cool, calm, and collected. When he steps into the box, his approach is simple: see ball, hit ball… and hit it very hard.

Keep launching tanks, Donkey! 🫏 🐂

🚨 Another one! 🚨 (In our best DJ Khaled voice.)

Carson Woodcock officially joined the Bomb Squad this season with a towering 3-run shot to right-center on Saturday that helped propel the Blue Crew into Sunday’s Gold Bracket action!

Carson got every bit of this baseball and never looked back, sending it soaring into the gap and giving the Bulls all the momentum they needed.

If you know Carson, you know there’s almost always a smile on his face. But after this one, that smile might have been a little bigger as he was absolutely floating around the bases. To call it a home run trot would be selling it short — Big Country was on cloud nine!

Way to step up and come through in a huge moment, Carson. Keep working, keep swinging, and keep launching baseballs. Welcome to the Bomb Squad!

Another Welcome to the Bomb Squad! 💣

Grayson Barr jumped all over this fastball and launched a no-doubt shot to dead center during the Mother’s Day Event in May! It was a huge swing that sparked the offense and shifted the momentum, helping the Bulls rally for a big win and punch their ticket to the Gold Bracket Championship Game.

And yes, that’s Mama Barr making her way onto the field to celebrate at home plate with G-Money! 😂 🐂

First Homerun Kind of Day! 💣

Sawyer Keefe officially joined the Bomb Squad on Sunday morning with an absolute no-doubter! A huge swing in a tight game against a tough 10U opponent that gave the Bulls a big spark when they needed it most.

And if you’ve ever wondered what great teammates look like, just watch this Bulls team race to home plate. There’s nothing better than seeing a group of boys celebrate each other’s success with that kind of energy and excitement. That’s what makes this team special!

And that's a wrap on the Sumter Bulls Red 9U season!

What a season it was. It's hard to believe that just a year ago we were holding tryouts and introducing many of these boys to their first experience with travel baseball. From day one, this group bought in, showed up ready to work, and embraced every challenge that came their way.

From Sumter to Lexington, Myrtle Beach to Charleston, these boys put plenty of miles on the tires and left their mark everywhere they went. They competed with heart, represented our community with pride, and continued to improve every single weekend.

With the guidance of Coach Kirby and Coach Chase, the boys took every challenge in stride and truly blossomed throughout the season.
