One year since this day.
Still one of the most joyful moments Iβve had the honor to witness.

A winter wedding at New York City Hall.
It was nearly -20Β°C, the wind cutting through the streets of downtown Manhattan.
But the light was beautiful.
They stood close together on the stone steps, laughing, hands tucked into pockets to keep warm. As a photographer, moments like this always remind me why I love what I do β real emotions, real weather, real life.
No grand ceremony, no elaborate setup.
Just two people, a signature, and New York quietly witnessing the beginning of their marriage.

Their story began at a small bakery on a Brooklyn street corner.
When they first met, Eriko brought a bagel. They shared it right there β simple, unplanned, and unforgettable.
Makoto grew up in New York. Eriko grew up in Tokyo.
They met in New York, then learned to love across cities, connected by flights and time zones.
To honor where it all began, they returned to New York for their pre-wedding photos, revisiting the places they once loved β the New York Public Library and Brooklyn Bridge Park.
This April, they will be getting married in Tokyo.
While photographing them, I couldnβt help but imagine that day β quiet, meaningful, and full of intention.

Autumn arrived quietly that morning β cool air, soft light, a day made for promises.
Allie and David smiled their way through the trees, the leaves, and the laughter β
a love story unfolding like an old film, gentle and certain.

Capturing the kind of moments you can never rewind.
Thank you for letting me witness this little piece of love.
This is the part of my work that heals me the most.
A wedding day starts with about 8,000 photos β
then 2,000 make it through basic edits,
around 300 are carefully retouched,
and finally, about 100 are chosen for the slideshow.
Thatβs the quiet reality behind every celebration.
But each time I edit a wedding,
it feels like stepping back into that day again β
feeling their nerves, their joy, their hugs, their tears.
Maybe thatβs why I still love doing this.
Because every story reminds me that emotions are a gift β
a gentle reminder to keep living softly,
and to keep feeling deeply.

The streets were crowded, the wind a little cold.
The sky turned gold, and they just kept walking β
laughing, talking, sometimes quiet.
The city was loud,
but somehow, they looked calm in the middle of it all.

The door opened, and time paused.
Light spilled in, and so did a thousand memories β
from tiny footsteps to this white dress.
A fatherβs pride, a quiet ache,
and a love that never fades.

The wind was wild, and so was the joy.
The bridal party was huge, the laughter unstoppable,
and the wind β it just danced with them.
Because some days, everything feels alive β
from flying veils to tearful smiles.
