After Dustin May turned in five strong innings of one-hit ball, the bullpen kept Chicago quiet until the 10th, when a two-run homer put the Cubs ahead. However, the Redbirds rallied in the bottom of the frame, capped by a clutch, one-out, two-run walk-off double from Iván Herrera to seal the win. The Royals rode a masterful pitching performance to bounce back yesterday, shutting out the Minnesota Twins 4–0 at Target Field. Offensively, Tyler Tolbert paced Kansas City by hitting a solo home run and a double, while Salvador Perez added a triple and two hits. The Royals stay in Minnesota to conclude their divisional road series this afternoon.

💹 Market RecapWall Street closed out a rocky week on a mixed note Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average clawed back some ground, rising 0.46% to finish at 51,947, while the S&P 500 hovered near flat with a tiny 0.05% gain. However, persistent tech sector liquidations continued to bruise the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite, which fell another 0.64% to 24,976, marking the second consecutive week of losses across major indexes due to AI spending scrutiny and a surge in oil prices.

⚾ Cardinals
The Cardinals suffered a frustrating extra-innings defeat at Busch Stadium yesterday, falling 5–3 to the Cincinnati Reds in 10 innings. St. Louis starter Kyle Leahy turned in a spectacular performance, striking out a career-high nine batters over six innings. Iván Herrera provided a jolt with a solo home run, and Alec Burleson racked up three hits, but the Redbirds couldn’t convert a bases-loaded opportunity in the eighth. The Reds broke it open in the top of the 10th with a two-run single from Nathaniel Lowe. The Cardinals return to action at Busch Stadium tonight to host the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Michael Massey delivered a crucial pinch-hit, two-run home run in the sixth inning to turn the tide for Kansas City, while L.J. Thomas added a solo shot earlier in the game. Detroit staged a late threat, but relief pitcher S. Cruz slammed the door in the ninth to secure his second save of the season. The Royals travel to Tampa Bay tonight to open up a new series against the Rays.
