Please note: Our baby kittens must go home in pairs if you do not already have a YOUNG, playful kitten for them to grow up with. Two kittens are better than one in SO many ways but, most importantly, it’s the best thing you can do to help them grow into well-balanced adult cats. 🐈🐈

Falcon is kinda sad that he hasn’t received a single application. ☹️

This angelic little boy is about 15 weeks old and he has the absolute sweetest personality. His fur is soft like cotton candy and he begins to purr out loud the second he sees you. He’s mastered the perfect ratio of playful and chill and does well with calm dogs and kids and other cats!

If you don’t already have a young, playful kitten at home for him to grow up with consider his twinsy, Hawkeye! Together they make a purrfect pair!

Our wee man, Poquito, has finally found his people!!

After being picked up as a stray, malnourished and with a nasty case of mange, Poquito spent a couple of weeks in the shelter on a stray hold. Not surprisingly, no one came to claim him. Of course, you know we love a wayward chi mix so we welcomed him into our foster club with open arms.

After a couple of months in foster care, Poquito blossomed under the glow of the true love and compassion he received. He is truly an amazing little dude with endless capacity for forgiveness considering the neglect he had suffered. He had multiple applicants looking to give him a loving home but the decision ultimately came down to a three year old little girl that Poquito fell in love with.

Lucky Poquito now has a giant, 1 acre fenced yard in the country to run and play with his two new dog siblings and of course, his little girl. His new parents love him deeply and we’ve already received so many wonderful updates.

We did it… we finally caught our white whale!! 😭🐋

In the last year and a half, we’ve rescued three litters of kittens from this poor, young mama cat but every time we’ve tried to catch her, we failed. Until now. Now her baby-making days are over!! 🎉

The look of defeat on her face is more than the defeat of being captured. This mama is tired. Overbred, under cared for and just plain tired all the way down to her little bones. We are absolutely elated to get her spayed, vaccinated and hopefully get her sad eyes cleaned up. She deserves to rest.

Ultimately, she will go back to the neighborhood where people feed her because she’s feral. She has never had a reason to rust humans and we don’t think that will change, but at least she won’t be tormented by hormones and male cats and babies that she never asked for.

Bertie County Humane has a match campaign going on right now!! Every dollar will be matched up to $5000!! If you can, please consider giving to help save the Bertie county dogs who so desperately need the extra support! The dogs are only given 10 days to be at the shelter until they are euthanized and sometimes, in order to save their lives and buy more time, the Bertie County Humane Society has to put them in boarding. This is extremely expensive so every dollar donated will help support their ongoing efforts. The dogs at this make-shift, rural ‘shelter’ are truly underdogs and every dime will go directly to helping them. Thank you!!

Who remembers our boy Crush?! 🐶

Since his adoption, the cutest little tank on four legs has been living it up with his forever family for three years now, and we just got the sweetest update:

“I know it’s been forever but I wanted to send you some updated pictures of Crushie. He has been the biggest blessing of our lives and he’s genuinely one of the best dogs I’ve ever had. He is 100% not all there mentally but that makes him so much better😂”
