We live in a world where millions go to bed hungry each night. But we’re doing our part by making sure that no one lives hungry. A day well spent supporting INMED Partnerships for Children by unloading, sorting, and distributing food for families facing food insecurity across the region!

In wrapping up our Kids in Crisis Drive, our last two stops included the Herndon Police Department where we delivered 100 blankets to help replenish their depleted inventory, and INMED Partnerships for Children where we dropped off two large bags of brand new stuffed animals. We had such tremendous support from the community for this drive and there are so many children who will be comforted by your generosity and kindness. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We can't do what we do without you.
Through our Kids in Crisis Drive, we were able to deliver some much needed blankets to both Embry Rucker Shelter and the Fairfax County Police Department - Reston branch. The generosity of our members, partners and colleagues leaves a lasting positive impact on our communities and we are so grateful; we can't do what we do without you. Next and final stops - INMED Partnerships for Children and Herndon Police Department - stay tuned!

Check out how our team dat INMED South Africa is celebrating ! Then tell us what you're doing to make the world and its people healthier on a local level.

Today is World Health Day and this year the theme is “Our planet, our health” and the World Health Organisation is focusing global attention on the urgent actions needed to keep humans and the planet healthy, and foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being.

INMED SA, has been running a Health in Action (HiA) programme, in conjunction with Mondelēz International, for the last six years and this innovative schools-based programme has demonstrated its enormous potential to positively influence the health of these communities.

Phase 2 of the programme launched in January 2020, with the objective of spreading its reach and impact to develop a sustainable healthy lifestyle culture in schools and communities.

Dr Sandra Pretorius, HIA Programme Manager says the second phase was particularly important as it focused on education and training, including workshops with educators on nutrition, food gardens and aquaponics, and nutrition linked to the curriculum subjects. “We are also training community members to grow their own food gardens, and teaching the benefits of exercise and eating a healthy diet,” says Pretorius.

The success of the programme is really heart-warming. Pretorius says in just six years, two of which were badly impacted by COVID-19, the teams have managed to establish productive vegetable gardens at 200 primary schools in Gauteng and Eastern Cape reaching 100 000 learners. They have also provided 150 households and community gardens with training, seeds and compost to improve access to fresh produce and alleviate hunger and malnutrition.

A support group is an important part of your journey towards a healthier lifestyle. These are like-minded people, friends or family, who can provide support for your goals but are also able to support your mental and emotional wellbeing.

Ask friends, family members, or co-workers to join you on certain goals. There are usually others around you who also want to lose/gain weight, eat healthier, or exercise more and would like to see you succeed.

Having a support group keeps you motivated, helps you keep on track, and increases the likelihood of meeting your long-term goals.

The INMED Difference: Strategies for Generational Change

* Family-focused programs prepare parents to give their children the healthiest possible start in life so that they develop optimally and enter school ready to learn and succeed.
* Children are at the center of an action-oriented educational process that cultivates the tremendous potential they hold as catalysts for positive change.
* Participatory programs lay the foundation for lifelong learning and economic productivity by strengthening academic, vocational, leadership and life skills.

Through INMED’s programs, the process of transformation that begins with a child carries over to his family and community, creating real, meaningful, sustainable change that crosses generations, breaks the cycle of poor outcomes and leads to a brighter future for all.
