Sometimes you have to think outside the box. In order to create and achieve something that most cant Invision.

Good morning Followers. I would like to get some feedback on which way to do the column and beam in this house. Let me know if you like the column being wood vs. drywall? Let know your thoughts.
Good afternoon. I know that it has been awhile. But I am back. Got some new things going on and irons in the fire. Working on new video blog of upcoming projects. Please stay tuned.
It pays to know how to design with certain materials and how they work. For instance if you are want a mosaic for a specific area that you know is a tight space. You should have it done as a made to measurements if the vendor has that option. I will make the area look more thought out instead of looking like an after thought.

This is what can happen when you think outside the box.

Big design for a small bath. 2x12 multi color glass 12x12 ( changing the direction of the tile every other tile), sidewalls 12 by 24 ceramic White Tile comma floor tile complimentary porcelain tile

The start of my clients project. Great things to come. Stay tune!
Let me clarify the difference between a speciality showroom and big box stores.
Yes, there is a cost difference and here are the reasons why.
1) Specialty showroom deal with more custom pieces. Things that you will not find in the big box stores.
2) The people that are working the showroom most of the time have a degree or certification in a field related to the work.
3) Showroom design have product training for for the vendor that they carry.
4) A lot of big box stores sell off the floor and there is not way to control the quality of the products that you are get.
5) With tiles there are possibilities that each tile is not cut to exact size. From one tile to the next they could be off by millimeters and in some applications it can be a noticeable difference. Plus the quality is not the same.
So the next time you have a project and want it done right, think about the materials that you are using.

It is amazing that you can change the whole look of a project with just the simple things. One of these hexagons brings out the under tones of the tile. While the other blends into the tiles predominant color.

CAD and other programs are able to show a client the look they want without committing.

The area that you should do accent walls and give character to your home, should be your powder room and kitchen. These are areas that your guest will see and may inspire them to create a new space in their own home.

From computer print out, to exact samples. Current contemporary look for a fireplace that I am working on.

New project for a kitchen backsplash. Love it when clients love design and arent scared to use it.

Lastest design project. Love it when clients are afraid to think outside the box.

New build that I had the pleasure with creating some beautiful baths.

Everyone is not juat doing a 3×6 subway tile for a backsplash. Think outside the box.
Design tip for the day: You should always hire a contractor that is licensed and insured. They it will cost a little more for the work to be done, but it is while worth it. To have a handyman install for a major project, will be cheaper in labor but will mostly cost you twice or triple the amount in materials.

If you are going to take the time and spend the money, on a bath renovation, the invest in the setting materials. In a shower/tub, you need to have a good waterproofing system and for the floor you need a good leveling systems when using tiles. You may spend an additional $600.00 or more depending how large the area is, but it is well worth it.
Dimensions are the key to any good design. You can not look at materials without knowing if the scale is right. Any good design knows this. The rule of thumb is measure twice cut once.

Why do designer charge so much? The service that a good designer provides is a service that should include the following:
1) Research of the overall design concept.
2) Knowledge of where to get materials, finishes and other things that are need to complete the project in a timely manner.
3) Doing the leg work of getting material to the project on schedule
4) Coorinating all parties involved on the project.
The role of a good interior designer is almost the same as a project manager for a project.
So this is the reason why us designer charge what we do for the services that we provide.
When you choose a design please know what their role is in your project. A designer should help you pull together the look that you desire, make sure that the area has service the function for what you need and know the materials. Your responsible as the client is to make sure that you communicate with the designer. We can not read minds and unless you tell us what you want I cannot provide you with the best services. It is up you to read and go over the work that your designer gives. If you have questions ask them that is what we are there for.
