Tom Davis holds one of those critical jobs that keeps everybody humming at Marathon TS. As Account Managers capture positions to be filled and Recruiters find qualified candidates to fill those seats, it’s Tom as the company’s DocuSign guru who is working behind the scenes to make sure all the new hires complete and submit their paperwork so they can start bright and early on their first day at their new gig. “We have to make sure we have a record of their IDs, their direct deposit information, their contact information, and their contracts,” Tom explains. “And, we have to verify that all the forms are completed accurately.”
He joined Marathon in November of 2019. “I knew people here who were always talking it up,” he says. “It’s a great work environment. The owners are just down the hall, and I see them every day. They’re really great people.”
Tom was particularly impressed with how the company responded to COVID. “We kept the doors open the entire time,” he recalls. “We worked hard to keep the environment clean and safe for those who wanted to be here.”
Tom will be spending the holidays with family at his brother’s house in Ashburn. “I am looking forward to seeing my niece and nephew—and meeting my brother’s fiancee’s family!” He and his wife have been married for 8 years, and they have a golden retriever named Kellogg, who will turn 4 in April.
Looking ahead to 2022, Tom is just “happy to have a job and to be healthy.” He is excited to see where the New Year takes the company.
We are, too, Tom. Thanks for being such a key part of our organization. We love having you on the team!

Jalen Howard knows exactly what to say when the conversation wanes at a social gathering. When it’s his turn to share something interesting about himself, he pulls out an old chestnut: “I was raised on an emu and rhea farm in Texas….” Now, there’s a tale to tell. And, Jalen is quite the storyteller.
Although he says he would NEVER consider farming as a career, Jalen’s childhood has clearly left an impression. He studied environmental science in college and continues to volunteer for the SPCA. He and his wife, Taylor, count a cat and two dogs as part of their family. The two were married this past June.
Having joined Marathon TS in July of 2020, Jalen has found the company to be “so much fun.” “It’s nice,” he adds, “to work somewhere where you want to hang out with people after work.”
Jalen and Taylor are looking forward to a low-key Christmas this year. “Our family is pretty spread out. Jalen’s family lives in Connecticut, and Taylor’s family lives in Florida.” But Taylor’s sister is coming into town from Tampa this year, and “we always enjoy spending time with her.” The Howards will be relaxing over the holidays, going to see a light show, and watching Christmas movies.
Then, it will be time to return to work and gear up for the New Year. My goal is to someday be Director of Recruiting, Jalen says, and Marathon TS gives you a clear path to success. I am looking forward to learning more and taking on more responsibility.”
We are glad to hear it, Jalen! But we do draw the line at bringing emus into our new workspace! Happy Holidays to you, Taylor, Lola, Reeze, and Finn!

This Christmas, Brad Pinekenstein predicts, is going to be the most fun EVER. He is excited to see how his youngest son will react when he meets Santa. “I am just going to sit back and enjoy it,” Brad says. He is also looking forward to hosting his entire family this year. “They are all coming over to my house to celebrate.”
Fortunately, Brad and his wife love to entertain. Before joining Marathon in June of last year, Brad was a stay-at-home Dad. During that time, he built himself a full outdoor kitchen in the backyard, complete with a smoker. “I smoke all kinds of meats,” he says. “People seem to like my salmon, pork, and brisket… oh and TURKEY.”
Brad managed the construction of his backyard paradise while he was on a 3-year hiatus from the workforce to watch his two young boys (now 2 and 4) grow up. Under his watchful eye, the crew built a screened-in porch, a pool and hot tub, and the patio and kitchen.
While managing the household, Brad also taught himself carpentry. “At first, I wanted to build things for my boys,” he recalls. But then people saw what I built and wanted to buy one. “I started marketing on Facebook and got so busy, I had to turn away work.” He is currently building a toy chest for a Marathon co-worker.
Brad loves working at Marathon TS and is very proud to be hosting the company’s cocktail party this year, which is why we are all looking forward to having a rather fun holiday as well! Thanks, Brad, for being a part of the Marathon family and welcoming us to your home.

Mary Hepler has been with Marathon TS since before the beginning. Back in the day, she actually worked for Alan Siek’s father at Honeywell. Then, she joined Alan and Pam when they formed Cornell with Mark Krial and then moved with them to Marathon TS. “They’re like family,” she says. “Everyone here in the main office is someone’s friend or relative.”
Mary loves her job at Marathon, but her passion is beekeeping. And, she has been at it for about 3 years now. At first, she recalls “I was nervous about it, but my husband and I went to bee school” every week for three months. Bee school? Yep…. Bee school. The instructors teach you about bee anatomy, the equipment you need as a beekeeper, diseases and parasites that can kill your colonies, and much, much more.
“Bees are very smart and very interesting,” Mary says. They all have a specific job to do, and they all communicate with each other. She now maintains four colonies in a fenced portion of her yard, her Apiary. She and her husband need to monitor the hives periodically (but not too often or the bees will react poorly). “When you start seeing signs of swarming, it’s time to start a new hive.”
Mary is looking forward to relaxing a bit and spending time with family during the holiday season. Next year, she is thinking, just might be the year to set up some additional hives on property she and her husband own in Pennsylvania.
Sounds like Mary will be as busy as a bee in 2022—in both her job and with her fascinating hobby!

Chad Smith started playing tackle football when he was 6 years old. He loves the physicality of the sport as well as the comradery with teammates and coaches. “There is just something very appealing,” he says, “of working that hard for so long for a moment of glory after a win.”
All that hard work certainly played off for Chad, who had the opportunity to start as a linebacker for Clemson University between 2015 and 2019. In his senior year, the Tigers played against Ohio State in the 49th edition of the Fiesta Bowl. The Buckeyes quickly built up a 16-0 lead, but then Clemson defense stiffened, making three successive red-zone stops. The Tigers went on to win 29-23, sending the Clemson team to compete against LSU in the National Championship game. Chad was named defensive MVP. “It was so surreal,” Chad recalls, “a really special moment in my life. It was an honor to be a part of that team. It was a great program with coaches who cared more about your success off the field than on the field.”
Chad’s football career prepared him well for his first job out of college–as a technical recruiter for Marathon TS. He joined the company in November of 2020, and “it couldn’t be better,” he enthuses. “The company is having an historic year despite the pandemic. And that’s thanks to the leadership here. It’s like a family.”
Chad is “super excited” to spend the holidays with his large family. “I am one of 8,” he says, “so it’s going to be a full house.” Looking forward to next year, Chad has his sights set on “being the best technical recruiter I can be and to develop and learn all I can. It’s all about growth.”
We can’t wait to see what our in-house champion has to show us—on and out of the office! Go, Chad, Go!!

One of the North Pole elves has moved south and taken up residence at Marathon TS, and her name is Nicole Reinheimer! Nicole has enough holiday spirit for at least three normal human
beings. She loves the holidays and decorating and gift shopping. This year, she found she had a list of more than 100 people on her “Nice” list. So, she started her Christmas shopping before the Thanksgiving turkey was out of the oven and had it finished before most people had even thought about Christmas!
With all that done, she can now look forward to a relaxing holiday with her boyfriend, bulldog, and family. She will be visiting Mom and Dad between Christmas and New Year’s. They live about 20 minutes from Heinz Field, home to the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers. Now that she hangs her elf hat in Virginia, Nicole attends many a Washington Football Team game, but she’s still a die-hard Steelers fan at heart. Just don’t tell her boyfriend; she could end up on his “Naughty” list!
After the first of the year, Nicole is looking forward to getting back into the swing of things at Marathon, where she works in sales. “I am looking forward to bringing in new clients and new revenues,” she says. She’s also hoping that her interactions get back to a more normal. “I was able to work from the office most days,” she recalls of the Year of COVID, “because we kept things super clean and we were very flexible and adaptable, so I felt super safe!” But, Nicole is ready for more face-to-face meetings and Happy Hours with clients and fewer Zoom and Teams meetings!
And, we are looking forward to seeing what Nicole brings to her role in 2022 — and just how early she jumps on her holiday preparations this time around. Halloween, perhaps?

Dennis Seaman served in the US Navy as an intelligence analyst for 8 years before joining Marathon TS in 2014. He supported SOCOM in Iraq, working alongside “top US SpecOps forces.” He also supported the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency and 2ndMEF as an ISR analyst in Bagram and Helmand. Even now, Dennis continues to serve as a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in St. Thomas, where he and his wife have an investment property that doubles as a home away from home during the summer months.
When Dennis left active duty, his priority was “just being a good dad.” He has three young children, all under the age of 9, and was pursuing a career path that would allow him to stay involved in his children’s lives—coaching soccer, flag football and being present for their lifetime of growth. Marathon TS has proven to be a great option for him. From his home office outside Philadelphia, he can still have daily interactions with current and former military personnel—but go home to family at the end of the day. “Our reach is substantial,” Dennis says. “We support mission-essential national security programs for leading DOD and IC agencies. An essential pillar to our growth has been our core commitment to honesty and integrity. By valuing our coworkers, the management team has driven our overall corporate growth. Before joining Marathon TS, Dennis worked for a larger government contractor, and, he says, “you could tell you were a row on a spreadsheet.”
He is looking forward to spending time with his family during the holidays. “We’re going to be playing soccer, taking in a movie, and reading Piggie & Gerald,” he says. Looking ahead, Dennis is excited to see how Marathon’s presence grows out west in the coming year. “We are growing our geospatial capabilities in St. Louis,” he explains, “and our relationships with the Fincantieri Marinette Marine shipyard in Wisconsin.” He is grateful to be a part of a consistent and responsible company that treats its employees with respect.
And we couldn’t be happier to have him, either. Thank you for your continuing service, Dennis. Here’s to a fantastic New Year together!

Alannah Marable is looking forward to two big milestones early next year. On January 4, she will be celebrating her first-year anniversary with Marathon TS. She signed up with the company last year because she wanted “a really good job with a great culture and a healthy work/life balance.” After two previous jobs failed to meet the mark, she has found her place in the world at Marathon where she can work hard and then go home to focus on having a life.
Alannah loves her job because she gets to spend the day looking for qualified candidates who are a good fit for the positions Marathon has been hired to fill. “It’s really nice to talk to people. Many of my candidates are really grateful to hear from me. They may have been looking for a job for 2 or 3 months when I reach out to them with a potential job.” She also has enjoyed watching the company grow over the past year. “It’s really fun to see the changes since last January.”
Oh, and the second milestone Alannah will be celebrating in 2022? “I have a baby girl on the way in March!” Alannah and her husband (and “my best friend’s little brother”) have been together for 11 years. They are looking forward to spending a “real chill” Christmas with both families. This will be the first grandchild for Alannah’s Mom, who is very excited, but #10 for the experienced in-laws! After the holidays, the couple will need to focus on getting the nursery ready and picking out names. “We’ll figure it out as we go!” Alannah says.
It’s a good thing she settled in at Marathon—cause she is going to have a whole lot more of that “life” in the work/life balance coming her way! We’re all here for you and the baby, Alannah!

Say hello to Prakash Ellis, Marathon’s newest go-getter! Prakash joined Marathon TS as a recruiter on June 7, shortly after graduating from James Madison University. “I just loved everything I heard about the company,” he recalls. “And it’s great! I love working here. It’s competitive; everyone is trying to one-up each other, but in a friendly way. They give you a road map for how to excel and then the freedom to do it your way. I feel very grateful—very blessed—to be here.”
Marathon TS feels exactly the same way about Prakash, moving him into sales and promoting him to Account Manager just 3 months into the job. The most challenging part of the new gig? “Working in a position where I have to manage work and life with my friends in the office!”
Prakash is used to facing new challenges, having traveled the world with his father, who is a yoga instructor and lifelong surfing enthusiast. They have surfed up and down the West Coast as well as in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Bali. “It’s all about the thrill,” Prakash says. “Being in the ocean helps me relax and get my mind off of things.”
Prakash anticipates a great holiday season this year, since he was not able to celebrate last year’s festivities with his closest family members, who live in Toronto, because the borders were closed for COVID. After Christmas, he heads to Santa Barbara to hang with his father for a week. Then it’s back to work “hanging with my best friends” at Marathon.
We are sure Prakash will be a big part of another stellar year. Keep up the great work! We’re proud of you!

After 12 years of working for a telecom company, Lisa Wachob was ready for a change. “I was nervous, of course, changing careers at my age, but within two months, I knew I had made the right decision” by going to work for Marathon TS. “I had so much to learn,” Lisa recalls, “but, from Day One, everyone wants you to succeed. My coworkers mentored me all along the way. The teamwork is outstanding. They just set you up for success.”
Lisa's tale is particularly compelling because she works from her home office — in Colorado, two hours from Denver. “My husband and I live closer to New Mexico, actually. We relocated here 19 years ago. We love the outdoors life here. We ski, we hike, we snowshoe.” About 5,000 people live in Lisa’s hometown, and she knows just about all of them from her previous jobs with the telecom company and before that a local gym. Despite the rural setting and a global pandemic, Lisa has had a “great year.” Marathon provides her with all the tools she needs to be a highly successful recruiter for the company. Other than the occasional person noticing her 719 area code, candidates in DC, Huntsville, and Texas “have no idea I am working from Colorado.” So, she can recruit talent from all over the US.
For Lisa, the holidays can’t come too soon. She and her husband and two (spoiled) Shih Tzus will be entertaining in-laws and enjoying a reunion with her son, who will be visiting from college where he is studying linguistics. And in January, she will be hitting the slopes— an annual family tradition.
We are so glad Lisa decided to take that leap of faith and join our ranks. “Nothing ventured, nothing gained,” she quips. We couldn’t agree more, Lisa!

Eric Grish is a Marathon TS rock star! He booked more than 100 placements at his 10 clients this year—more than anyone else in the company. “We have had great success this year,” Eric says. His secret? “Working hard, being flexible, and being willing to adapt to our clients’ needs.” Eric says the ownership of the company is “very supportive” of his approach and leaves him alone to do what he does best. But, he adds, “they are always there to give me anything I need for the clients.”
Eric joined Marathon in October of 2019—just a few short months before the pandemic turned the world of government contracting upside down. “It was a little slow at first, but then everyone figured out how to work remotely, and things took off from there.”
He has 15 years in the field and really appreciates Marathon’s commitment to long-term partnerships with its clients rather than just chasing the money. “Everything here is just going in the right direction,” he says.
Eric is looking forward to a family-oriented holiday with his girlfriend, two children, and bulldog! “We are staying local this year; it will be great.”
Our hats off to Eric. We can’t wait to see what 2022 brings!
