For a grand total of.... $29,305 !!! That's almost $10,000 more than we raised last year!
Thank you again to our amazing FOHA Tails to Trails team of Ulli, Heidi, Katy, Laura, Jesse, Craig, Christine, Debbie, Frank, Steve, Dot, Emily, Rachel, and Tara (and pawparrazi Mark and Elizabeth), and to the 150 people who ran for FOHA, including our President, Executive Director, and Board Secretary. A huge thank you to our generous donors who helped us more than double our winnings with prize money. Lastly, Thank you to the Dulles Greenway for including us in the event and the event sponsors for all the prizes.
You are AWESOME!

Broad Run, I want to share several exciting events I have attended over the past few days:

Last Friday, I participated in a tour of Loudoun Water to get a better understanding of the special exception application that came before the Board on Wednesday, to allow for the construction of two 10-million-gallon wastewater storage tanks on land that is in a floodplain at the Loudoun Water treatment facility. On Friday, I also attended Thomas Balch Library's Centennial Celebration, to commemorate its one hundredth anniversary since opening in 1922 in Leesburg.

Then on Saturday, I joined Delegate David Reid and Supervisor Koran Saines in opening Dulles Greenway's annual Run The Greenway 5K and 10K Race at the Greenway’s Mainline Toll Plaza. There were over a thousand runners participating in the 5K, 10K, 800-meter Kids Fun Run, and virtual race. Run The Greenway raised over $220,000 to support twenty two participating local charities. That same morning Senator John Bell and I welcomed XCAL Shooting Sports and Fitness to the Broad Run District, located at 44950 Russell Branch Parkway in Ashburn. XCAL is a family-owned business that features modern shooting ranges, a fully equipped fitness center, spa, café, and retail store with both firearm and fitness related products.

Yesterday, I attended the grand opening event of NV Kitchen and Bath, located at 22000 Dulles Retail Plaza #178 in Sterling. NV Kitchen Bath provides remodeling services for residential homes, including, kitchen, bath, and basement finishing. To learn more about their services, visit: nvkitchenandbath.com.

Also yesterday, Loudoun Cares honored more than 100 Loudoun County volunteers across 15 categories at the Outstanding Volunteer Awards (OVAs) celebration. The annual OVAs event celebrates volunteers for their outstanding contributions to making our community a great place to live, work, and play. This year’s Broad Run District Outstanding Volunteer Awardee is Katrecia Nolen.
FINN’s Global Public Affairs team supported Dulles Greenway’s 2nd annual 5K, 10K, and 800-meter Kids Fun Run this past weekend. With more than 1,700 runners, the event raised over $220,000 for local non-profit organizations! Run The Greenway
On Saturday, May 7, members of AVFRD, with assistance from the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad, supported a standby for the 2nd annual Run the Greenway 5K and 10K held on the Dulles Greenway. Despite the (at times heavy) rain, our members worked closely with the race staff and made sure this was a safe event for the 1,000 runners who came out and braved the conditions. Thanks to all those who ran to support us and to our members who helped make sure this was a successful event!
The race continues through some sloppy conditions, but our hearty crew is up to the task.

On Juneteenth we commemorate the emancipation of those who were enslaved in the United States. The Dulles Greenway Rt. 267 West will be closed from Rt. 28 to Rt. 772

Sterling, VA (April 28, 2022) – Today, the Dulles Greenway announced road closures on Saturday, May 7, 2022 to accommodate the second annual Run The Greenway 5K and 10K race. The Dulles Greenway (Rt. 267 West) will be closed from Rt. 28 to Rt. 772 (exit 6 at Ashburn Village Blvd). The roadway will remain open for eastbound travel.

The closures will be in effect from 2:00 a.m. to approximately 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7 and will include the following exits onto the Dulles Greenway:
• Rt. 28 North on ramp to the Dulles Greenway
• Rt. 606 Old Ox Rd
• Rt. 607 Loudoun County Parkway
• Ramp G to 267 West from Eastbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH). All traffic exiting the airport expecting to use Ramp G to 267 West will be rerouted to Route 28 Northbound.
• Traffic exiting the Dulles Toll Road West bound must exit at 9A or 9B to avoid the Dulles Greenway closure

Travelers should expect traffic delays at the intersection of Rt. 606 Old Ox Road and Ariane Way. Variable message signs will be displayed one week prior to the event to inform the traveling public of the upcoming detour around the closure. The Dulles Greenway encourages travelers to use Waxpool Road to Rt. 772 or Rt. 28 North to Rt. 7 to bypass the event.

Run The Greenway, a family-friendly race, will convene more than 1,500 Northern Virginia runners and their families. Starting at the Dulles Greenway’s Mainline Toll Plaza, the race will feature a 5K, 10K, 800-meter Kids Fun Run and a virtual race option. The annual community race serves as a fundraising vehicle for 22 participating local charities. The inaugural 2021 Run The Greenway race raised over $156,000 for local Loudoun County non-profits.
