Isaac happened to see a friend from Starkville working at Bass Pro and got to share a cross penny and pray for him too. Divine appointments already! Thank you, Jesus!

If any of the New Horizons Family wants to help with directing parking, welcoming guests and helping seat the family and close friends, please reach out to Johnny Buckner who will be directing the memorial service.

Dear Family,

Hope you are doing well! This has been an eventful week for my family. I am sure you saw the email from dad about mom having COVID 19. Monica also has tested positive for the virus and has been sick since Tuesday. The symptoms are pretty rough, but she doing ok and is quarantined in an area of our house. Your continued prayers would be greatly appreciated.

I also wanted to give you all a quick update on plans for this Sunday. My family won’t be there in person. The kids and I are not sick, but just to be safe we are going to quarantine at home for now. We are still planning on having our two services at 9:30 and 11:00 tomorrow. During our first service we ask if you sit on the left side as you look towards the speaker that you wear a mask. For those that can not come in person join us for the online service via Facebook at 6pm. Dad will host an online interactive ministry time immediately after the online service.

This Sunday we will not offer nursery or kingdom kids at either of our meetings. This is not a reaction to anything other than a need for people to serve in this area. We continue to struggle to find volunteers for the nursery and Kingdom Kids ministry on Sunday mornings. To those of you that have given and continue to give of your time in this area we are so thankful for your sacrifice! We value family at NHCF. Our kids are our future. This is a ministry we would like to put more focus on. I ask that we all pray about being a part of this ministry. If you would be interested in serving in this area and pouring into the children at our church please contact Cori Shivley ([email protected]). She will be glad to talk to you!

Love each of you! Thank you again for your continued prayers for my family. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Much love!

Update regarding NEI missionaries Mang and Mercy:

Today, July 23, 2020, we as a Kingdom family grieve the loss of a dear brother who has served with NEI for many years, Brother Chinsuanmang. Brother Mang and his family have been serving for over a decade in Cambodia, ministering to and pastoring over many in villages all around Siem Reap. He was loved and respected as a pastor, teacher, and friend, and faithfully served wherever the Lord led him.

Last fall, Brother Mang and his wife Mercy pursued a dream of theirs to attend seminary, and moved to Manila, Philippines with their young children, Hanna and Daniel. The school year was cut short due to COVID-19, however, this spring. On June 24th, the family flew to India, seeking to reach home in Lamka Manipur. But due to government regulations, they were quarantined first in Guwahati, Assam. While quarantined, Brother Mang grew ill and was hospitalized, quickly being moved into the ICU. He tested positive for COVID-19 on July 18, and fought the illness in the ICU until his passing today.

We as a Kingdom family are mourning with Brother Mang’s family, friends, and extensive Church community as this news hits our hearts deeply. His wife Mercy and their children will travel to their home state in India as soon as the current quarantine is lifted for them, but will face another 14-day quarantine there before being able to meet family. They also have not lived as a family in their home state since before their marriage to one another, and so Sister Mercy will need to find a home for herself and the children. With the many items and tasks a new home requires, this is difficult even apart from the tremendous grief they must feel. Please keep them all in your prayers throughout this new journey for Brother Mang’s family. We are thankful for the loving church family that will receive them in Manipur, and for the comfort and hope that their fellowship will bring. The Body of Christ in NE India is making a powerful and loving impact in frontier missions, and we honor Brother Mang and Sister Mercy’s leadership within this beautiful move of God. We join their home church in honoring this family and welcoming Sister Mercy, Hanna, and Daniel home. Jesus, our trust is in You, our firm foundation!

Donations in check form can be sent via postal mail at:
NEI at New Horizons Christian Fellowship
1010 Victory Lane
Starkville, MS 39759

Please include in the check memo: “Mang and Mercy Ministry” and the check can be made out to NEI. All funds sent this way will go directly to Brother Mang’s wife, Mercy, as a love offering.

Please also feel free to give using the link posted here, within our NHCF website: https://nhcfstarkville.churchcenter.com/giving/to/mang-and-mercy-s-ministry. Simply select ‘Mang and Mercy’s Ministry’ from the option bar and enter your donation amount, following the prompts within the site.

Thank you all so much for loving this family well with us!

7-26 UPDATE: Debbie is better. Had a little set back last night and today with fever and headache coming back. But improvement is like night and day compared to the first challenging 3-4 days. Thankful but please keep praying! Please pray that her lungs will clear of the congestion and heal.

7-22 UPDATE: It has been confirmed Debbie has tested positive for Covid-19. Thankfully, her headache and fever have eased some. We appreciate your continued prayers!

7-21 A Note From Johnny:
Prayers appreciated for Debbie. She has been very ill for a few days – severe headache, body aches, fever, nausea, congestion, painful cough and exhaustion. With all that is going on, we did get her tested and are still awaiting the results. She is under doctor’s care. We have her quarantined and we are all staying in and away from others.

I decided that we need extra prayer support and so I’m reaching out to our church family for some specific prayer for Debbie's healing and recovery. Thanks.

Johnny
