Feeling panicky, anxious, or emotionally overloaded? 💩
This all-in-one emotional first aid kit helps calm big emotions—
created by a mental health therapist & former school principal.
Happy Mother’s Day to the moms who hold everything together with coffee, courage, prayer, patience, and love they somehow keep finding even when they are completely exhausted.
To the single moms carrying the worry, the bills, the schedules, the hard conversations, the hugs, and managing behaviors and emotions while trying to hold everyone together, you are doing sacred work. You may not always hear thank you enough, but please know this. Your love is becoming someone’s strength, someone’s safety, and someone’s reason to keep going.
To the grandparents raising children for the next generation, starting over when you thought that season had passed, your love is a gift beyond words. Every lunch packed, ride given, tear wiped, and bedtime handled is building a foundation a child will stand on for the rest of their life.
To the bonus moms, stepmoms, grandmas, aunts, foster moms, adoptive moms, older sisters, teachers, and all the mother figures who stepped in, stayed close, and loved a child like their own, thank you. Some of the most beautiful families are built by love, not just biology.
And to those who find Mother’s Day complicated because of grief, loss, longing, distance, or difficult relationships, you are seen today too.
Happy Mother’s Day to every person who has made a child feel safe, loved, wanted, guided, and never alone.
Your love matters more than you know. ❤️

Why Every Home Should Have an Emotional First Aid Kit
As a therapist and former school principal, I really believe every home should have some version of an emotional first aid kit. Hard moments are part of being human. Kids get overwhelmed, teens shut down, and adults hit their limit too.
An emotional first aid kit is simply a small box, bag, or container filled with tools that help calm the body and steady the mind during stress, anxiety, panic, frustration, or emotional overload. It is the emotional version of the kit you keep for cuts, burns, or headaches.
Why does it matter? Because when big emotions hit, adrenaline takes over and we move into fight, flight, or freeze. The thinking brain gets quieter, the survival brain takes over, and IQ drops. Logic, problem solving, and communication all get harder. That is why “just calm down” usually does not work.
An emotional first aid kit helps break that cycle quickly. It gives you something concrete to do so the body can settle and the brain can come back online.
It might include a cold pack, a stress ball or fidget, gum or sour candy, a calming scent, earbuds or ear plugs, a journal, a soft comfort item, or a simple grounding card with calming steps.
Be prepared. The middle of a big emotion is the worst time to try to figure out what helps or go searching for tools.
And if you do not want to build one from scratch, there are also ready-made ones at FeelLikeP**p.com.

10 Reasons an Emotional First Aid Kit Is Just as Important as a Physical First Aid Kit
We would never tell someone with a cut, burn, or sprained ankle to just “figure it out” without support. So why do we do that when someone is having a panic attack, feeling overwhelmed, shutting down, or falling apart emotionally?
As a therapist, former school principal, and the creator of the "Feel Like P**p" Emotional First Aid Kit, I believe every home, school, office, team, and college dorm should have support ready for big emotions too. Here’s why:
1. Emotional pain is real pain
Anxiety, panic, stress, grief, and overwhelm do not just live in your head. They show up in the body too. Racing heart, nausea, shaking, chest tightness, tears, irritability, and shutdown are real human responses that deserve real support.
2. You do not rise to the occasion when overwhelmed
You fall to the level of your preparation. In moments of stress, people often cannot think clearly, problem solve well, or remember what helps. A kit gives simple, ready-to-use tools when your brain is not at its best.
3. Early support can keep things from getting worse
A physical first aid kit helps with the small things before they become bigger problems. Emotional first aid works the same way. Catching stress, panic, or emotional overload early can help prevent a full meltdown, shutdown, or spiral.
4. Big emotions can happen anywhere
At home. At school. At work. In the car. Before a test. Before a game. Before a speech. After bad news. Emotional distress does not wait for a convenient time. Having tools nearby matters.
5. “Calm down” is not a strategy
Most people want to help, but they do not always know how. Telling someone to calm down rarely works. Giving them actual tools and steps they can use is much more helpful and much more compassionate.
6. Mental health deserves the same respect as physical health
We have worked hard to reduce the stigma around mental health, but too often support is still an afterthought. An emotional first aid kit sends a powerful message: your feelings matter, your struggles are real, and support is okay.
7. Kids and adults both need help with regulation
Many people were never really taught how to calm their body, ground themselves, or move through hard emotions in a healthy way. A kit can help teach and reinforce those skills in a practical, nonjudgmental way.
8. It helps people feel less alone
When someone is struggling emotionally, they often feel embarrassed, broken, weak, or isolated. Having a kit available says, this happens to people, you are not weird, and you are not alone.
9. Prevention is always better than crisis
We keep bandages, ice packs, and medicine around just in case. Emotional tools should be just as normal. It is better to have support ready before you desperately need it than to wish you had it later.
10. Every house should have one next to the physical first aid kit
Because life is hard sometimes. Because people panic. Because kids melt down. Because teens get overwhelmed. Because adults carry a lot. Because emotions are part of being human. And because support should be ready when big feelings hit.
Physical first aid helps the body. Emotional first aid helps the person.
And the truth is, we need both.
