Friends, after 40 years of coaching I’ve decided to retire from the high school scene (after the 2022 track season). It’s been a great ride and I’m thankful for so many wonderful experiences with athletes at Helias (Jeff City), CBC, and Nerinx Hall and with coaches from around the country. Thanks to all those whose ideas I’ve implemented and who’ve helped me along the way! I especially want to thank the athletes who’ve kept me young and excited about seeing them grow as people and athletes. That’s my favorite part of coaching! I’ve received as much or more than I’ve given and give thanks for it all!

The Nerinx Hall track and field team had an excellent day at the Class 4 State meet yesterday. Cami Crouch started it off finishing 2nd in the 3200 with a huge 20 sec PR 10:59.41 becoming only the 2nd Nerinx runner to break 11 minutes in the event!
Next up was the 4x800 team of Marisa Jacknewitz, Maddie Schillinger, Luci Medina and Cami Crouch that ran the fastest time in that event of any team in the state (all classes) 9:34.03 to become state champions! Marisa started it off building a 40 meter lead that the team never relinquished. Kudos to our alternates Marie Prindiville and Lucy Brady who contributed in the event all season and helped make the win possible!
That was followed by another 1st place by senior Lana Hill in the para shot put with a throw of 3.48 or 11’5”!
Cami was up again next and raced to an all-state 4th in the 1600 in 5:15.12 accounting for 15.5 points in her 3 events!
Then it was Marisa in the 800 where she raced to an all-state 5th place in a stellar 2:22.09!
Finally, the 6th ranked 4x400 team of Luci Medina, Lucy Brady, Maddie Schillinger and Marisa Jacknewitz pulled off a 4th place finish in 4:10.57 with each runner battling for position down the home stretch into the wind.
All day the runners fought a head wind down the home stretch on the chilly 55 degree day but the Markers showed their strength, speed and determination to place as high as possible. What a great day to be a Nerinx Hall Marker!
