A bowling ball. Six tires. Twenty bags of trash. An actual pop-up shelter.
Those were just a few of the things our Alpine Shop crew “harvested” from the Meramec River during this year’s Operation Clean Stream. The haul also included cans, bottles, sandals, buckets, and burlap bags.
Since 1967, Open Space STL has organized Operation Clean Stream, one of the country’s longest-running river restoration projects. For more than 25 years, Alpine Shop has organized a Sunday cleanup following the main Saturday event so our employees can take part.
Thank you to everyone on the Alpine Shop crew who gave their time and energy to care for the river. Special thanks to Riverview Ranch in Bourbon, Missouri, for arranging our shuttle and hauling away quite a load.
