LifeWise StL

Each year on June 20th, LifeWise StL joins the world in celebrating the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution.

Since 1902, our programs have supported refugees and immigrants making a home in St. Louis, ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive. More than 45% of our participants today are first generation immigrants, and our community is stronger because they are here with us.

As we continue this legacy, we reaffirm our promise to support and uplift immigrants in St. Louis. No matter where you come from, you are welcome here.

Today, we recognize and commemorate a defining moment in American history — the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. We honor the courage, perseverance, and strength of the African American community whose contributions continue to shape our nation.

At LifeWise StL, we stand in solidarity with our African American brothers and sisters as we remain committed to advancing equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all. May this day serve as a time for reflection, education, celebration, and renewed dedication to building a future where every individual is seen, heard, and valued.

Soap, toiletries, clothing, and other essential daily items are available to purchase at the Bodega for LifeWise StL participants and community members. Volunteer groups like Equifax and Family Care Health Centers are essential to keeping the Bodega stocked and organized for shoppers each week.

Congratulations to our Director of Senior Programming, Samantha Ferguson Knight, on your 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝! She was nominated by multiple people for her tenacity and quick response to helping older adults recover from the tornado. We are so proud of her!

Several LifeWise volunteers were also honored at the Senior Fund of St. Louis City award ceremony. Senior Companion Khien Van Hoang and Senior Companion Lula Lowery both received the Community Service Award for their years of dedicated work with older adults in our community.

Our therapists offer trauma-informed support to LifeWise participants navigating chronic stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. This care plays an important role in supporting each participant’s overall health, healing, and well-being.

Thanks to a host of volunteers, including Ameren Corporation, Plancorp Wealth Management, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, ELCA - Manchester, MO, our building was ready to receive our 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 this week!

Groups helped to prepare and plant in the garden beds, clean up the building, and paint and organize the gym for our K-8 campers.
