Thank you to everyone who joined us online and in person last week for our closing concert of the season with Jasper Chamber Concerts!
This season, Jasper Chamber Concerts commissioned and premiered 4 new string quartets, presented 4 evening concerts and performed several concert-conversation programs in the Philadelphia School District and the Philadelphia Athenauem through its Community Connections program. Congratulations to our 3rd Annual Christine Kim Award Winner, Samuel Cao, pictured below with the Jasper String Quartet!

Here is an excerpt from Michelle Barzel Ross’s Little Bells, commissioned in celebration of our 10th anniversary season!
Join us on April 16 at 7:30pm at the Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting for the final Jasper Chamber Concerts program of the season.
The program features music by Beethoven, Jessie Montgomery, Brittany J. Green, and Andrea Casarrubios, with a special performance by cellist Samuel Cao, winner of the 2026 Christine Kim Young Artist Award.

Here’s a clip from Madalena Lombardini-Syrmen’s 5th string quartet, performed at Jasper Chamber Concerts a few weeks ago.
Lombardini-Syrmen was an exceptional violinist and composer who played an important role in shaping the classical style we know today.
She was accepted at a young age into one of Venice’s renowned music schools. This was the same kind of institution where Vivaldi worked and helped shape Baroque music.

Here are some highlights from our concert last night with the students!
Congratulations to the Arlington high school students on a fine performance of chamber music last night! Each year, as part of our educational outreach program, we invite the Jasper String Quartet to work with the students over several days. This culminates in a concert featuring all the brilliant student groups, as well as the Jaspers. It’s an event that we look forward to every year.
