Possibly the greatest compliment many of you have given us was that you had no idea 909 S 4th Street was new construction. Our before/after photos are a bit different on this one. In early 2024 the City of St. Charles approved our requests to demo the condemned home on site and build what you see today. The previous home was a wood structure, roughly 100 years old that had been built upon the dirt (no cellar, footings, slab...). As you can imagine, the years had not been kind. In April 2024 we broke ground for the foundation of 909 S 4th Street. Our goal was to create a home that seamlessly fit in with Historic St. Charles preservation district. We have been approached by HGTV a couple of times over the years, but our proudest moment to date was receiving the City of St. Charles' Preservation Award for Sensitive In-fill. Affirmation from the city, itself, that we "nailed it"! We saved the original porch posts (now on the back porch) and the wood carved bathroom mirror (now hanging by the back door). Our 1.5 year labor of love (and sometimes hate) hit the market this morning. God has provided every step of this journey and the result is beautiful! Check it out at our open house Saturday 12-2!

Last night we received a Preservation Award from the City of St. Charles for 909 S 4th Street! We are pretty proud. The presentation is featured in the first few minutes of the linked video, in the event that anyone other than our moms want to watch.
