UPDATE: JC has been working hard behind the scenes when we’re not boating. With orders and logos continuing to pour in, I have accepted a position creating social content for Sailfish Boats - headquartered in Georgia. The urge to purchase a center console has now got even tougher. Excited to make some cool stuff with this company 🐟

Hot take: AI didn’t replace designers.
It exposed the difference between people who know how to design and people who know how to type prompts.
AI is an incredible tool and it’s one I use regularly. It helps speed up concepts, generate ideas, and improve workflow.
What it doesn’t do is understand production, branding, composition, file setup, print processes, vector artwork, color separations, scalability, or how to create something that actually works outside of a screen.
The internet is flooded with AI artwork being slapped directly onto apparel. That’s not design.
Good design still requires experience, creativity, problem solving, and technical skill.
AI can create an image. A designer creates a finished product.

New decal ready for its home on the river ⚡️
A little behind-the-scenes on the design process. AI can be a great tool when used correctly. The client sent over exactly what she wanted, and the rope texture was a perfect use case.
But this is where real design work comes in:
• Rebuilding elements into vector
• Scaling raster artwork cleanly for a 26” decal
• File prepping for print
• Adjusting cut lines so there’s no white showing around the navy lettering
The details matter.
