Buckeye Husky Rescue and Rehome
We are a Siberian Husky 501(C)3 Rescue located in Ohio. Our goal is to help save the lives of Siberian Huskies and keep them out of shelters.

Sometimes rescue isn't about having room.
Sometimes it's about making room.
For weeks, we've had to say the hardest word in rescue: no.
No, because every kennel is full. No, because every dollar is already spoken for. No, because every available space is occupied by a dog that once needed saving too.
Each "no" weighs heavy on the heart, because behind every request is a life, a story, and a dog that deserves a chance.
Then sometimes a face appears that won't leave your mind.
A face attached to a deadline.
A life attached to a clock.
Today, we learned of a sweet girl who must have a rescue commitment before 9:00 a.m. tomorrow or her story ends before she ever gets the chance to write a new chapter.
The easy answer would be to say we're full. Because we are.
But rescue has never been about doing what's easy.
On June 14th, our beautiful Stormi leaves for her forever home. A family is waiting to love her for the rest of her life. Knowing that, we looked at our full rescue, our full budget, our full schedules, and decided that for a few days, we'd simply be over full.
Because sometimes saving a life means squeezing one more crate into the room.
One more food bowl into the lineup.
One more veterinary bill onto the stack.
One more heartbeat into the family.
So while we will be over capacity until Stormi heads home, we couldn't let this girl lose her life simply because there wasn't a space available today when there will be one available next week.
Rescue is rarely convenient. It is often exhausting. It is sometimes heartbreaking.
But every now and then, love asks you to stretch just a little farther than you thought you could.
And when a life hangs in the balance, sometimes that little bit of extra room becomes everything.
Please keep this sweet girl in your thoughts tonight. Tomorrow, because of a little faith, a little hope, and a rescue willing to be temporarily overcrowded, she will have a chance at the future she deserves. ❤️🐾
Stormi is gaining her forever family on June 14th, and because of that gift, another husky will get the chance to live.
Be watching for her freedom walk tomorrow between 12-2. She needs more then just spayed and vaccinated. She has a large open wound on her neck, that is not healing. She went into the shelter with this wound on May 20th. The shelter is unsure of the cause of it, but we might be headed to Urgent Care tomorrow.

🚂🐾 Locomotive Update! 🐾🚂
Mr. Locomotive was not a happy engineer at the vet today!
The moment Dr. Noll walked into the room, Locomotive decided he was absolutely not part of the fan club. Luckily, I had already put his muzzle on because I wasn't quite sure how he'd react. Every time he heard Dr. Noll's voice in the hallway, the growling started right back up.
Now, the female staff members? That was a completely different story. Mr. Locomotive turned on the charm and was quite the flirt, soaking up all the attention he could get!
The good news is that he received a clean bill of health and is now stocked up with 3 months of preventive medications. Dr. Noll's only concern is that this growing boy needs to put on about 20-25 pounds.
With his checkup complete and his health cleared, we're excited to announce that we will soon be accepting adoption applications for Locomotive! ❤️
This goofy, handsome boy has come a long way, and we can't wait to find the perfect forever home for him.
Stay tuned for more details! 🚂🐺

🐾❤️ Tiana Update ❤️🐾
Today was spa day for Miss Tiana, and I swear I brushed enough fur off of her to make two more huskies! Between the endless clouds of fluff and the piles of fur scattered everywhere, it looked like a snowstorm hit the house.
As I stood back and looked at her when we were finished, I couldn't help but smile. Tiana may be 14 years old, but today she looked years younger. Her coat is shining, her tail is wagging, and that sweet sparkle in her eyes is still there.
The last few weeks have had their ups and downs. We've dealt with hot spots, vet visits, standing up problems, medications, and all the worries that come with loving a senior dog. But through it all, Tiana continues to remind me that age is just a number. She still chirps when she's happy, follows the smell of food like a professional investigator, and never misses an opportunity to be close to the people she trusts.
This morning, she even chose to come lay beside my chair and sleep. Such a simple thing, but moments like that become priceless when you're caring for a senior dog who is learning that she's safe, loved, and home, while still missing her original owner.
Fourteen years feels like a lifetime and a blink of an eye all at once. While I haven't known her for most of those years, I am grateful to be part of her story now. Every wag, every chirp, every handful of husky glitter, and every little victory feels like a gift.
Getting old is a privilege that not every dog receives. Watching a senior rescue rediscover comfort, happiness, and love is one of the greatest blessings. Today, I'm simply thankful for Tiana and the joy she brings to everyone around her.
Isn't she beautiful? ❤️🐺🐾

Someone from Michigan reached out to us about this beautiful girl, that will be 6 months next week. Does anyone know of any rescues up in Michigan or nearby that might be able to help her? Please tag any rescues here you know, and I can place them in touch with the owner. This beautiful puppy needs help. I will add more pics in comments. 🐾♥️
"Hi, I am hoping you might be able to help me out. I took in a husky back in February due to some neurological issues. I got her to where she was walking OK, and able to hold her head up. I rehomed her with some friends of my husbands- actually the parents cause they were obsessed with her. We just recently got her back😔 Her name is Xena- like the warrior princess. She will be 6 months on the 8th of June. She does still have a difficult time with balance and walking. She can't do stairs, so she has to be carried. She doesn't do well with cats, but she's done well with the 4 other dogs she's been around. As much as I love her, my house is not set up correctly for her and my husband and I work too much for what she needs. For sure she would benefit to some type of therapy, possibly even hydro therapy. She's utd on vaccines."

When your off from one job, it gives you more time for the other one. Ms. Tiana probably lost 5lbs. She'll be much cooler! 🐾♥️🐾

Another beautiful girl, we cannot currently help. Here is the information we received on her.
My daughter is temporarily here in Ohio with me while her husband is deployed they live in San Diego. She just delivered a baby and they have a husky they are looking to rehome. Their new place won’t allow dogs. She’s only 2 years old a beautiful husky. Is this a place I could possibly help find her a new home? We want to make sure she goes somewhere loving she’s such a good dog. She is spayed, up to date on vacines, and in located in Canal Wi******er OH.
I have the contact information for the owner if you would like more information.

Tiana Update 🐾❤️
Miss Tiana surprised me this morning and decided to come sleep beside my chair. That's something she rarely does, so I soaked up every minute of it.
If you notice the shorter fur on one of her hips, that's from her previous hot spot. The good news is that hair is finally starting to grow back in nicely. Unfortunately, over the weekend she decided to develop another hot spot on her same hip. While we were at the vet Monday, I showed Dr. Noll a picture of it, and he prescribed another round of antibiotics along with a spray to help get it under control. At least we were able to address it without making her endure another trip in and out of the vehicle.
Otherwise, Tiana has been doing wonderful! She hasn't had any more issues getting up from a sitting position, and she's been happily walking around, wagging her tail, and chirping away like the cheerful husky she is. Her spirit remains as bright as ever.
And, of course, some things never change. The moment food starts cooking, Tiana is right there at your side, making sure you know she'd be more than happy to help with quality control. 🍳🐺
Thank you all for continuing to keep this sweet girl in your thoughts and prayers. She certainly keeps us smiling every day. ❤️🐾

Terri reached out to me to see if I could take her, or help by posting for her. Please share this post. We all know the truth of what happens when a shelter is full, and this is a very small shelter. Transportation can be arranged she stated below.
Good afternoon
My name is Terri and I am a volunteer at my local shelter in Illinois.
We have a husky here at our shelter that desperately needs out.
She was a stray that was never claimed last summer, we found in high temps and was brought to our shelter. We assuming she was dumped.
We figure she is about 1 to 2 years old, spayed, housebroke and utd on shots.
She was adopted but sadly returned for having too much energy and separation anxiety.
She can also be dog selective which is another strike against her.
Unknown how she is with cats.
Good with older children and very friendly and loving.
Sadly our shelter is very small with only 6 kennels of which I are full. 😢
We are very rural and little to no traffic.
Our shelter is manned by 3 amazing ladies who do their absolute best to save dogs but unfortunately when they are out of room choices have to be made.
They truly love the dogs but sometimes they run out of time or room.
Her name is Haley and she is so sweet and needs a place asap.
I know everyone is full and I totally understand but if there is anything you can do to help we would be in your debt and can definitely arrange transport!
Even a courtesy listing would help.
Thank you for your time.
She is located at the Mercer county shelter in Aledo Illinois.
