We asked Cass County Animal Rescue (one of our Wigs & MuuMuus 2026 beneficiaries) to send us some of their success stories, and BOY did they DEEEEliver!!

Besides for needing money to help them with their TNVR program, there is something else quite special about this group. They help out Morgan County Animal Control in a big way. They do most of the adoptions for the facility because of the huge intake at the facility. Besides for taking the more involved medical cases, they also promote their animals, vet potential adopters, place the animals into approved homes, coordinate/facilitate the vet services, and finalize the adoptions!!! Seriously, AWESOME stuff!!

As it turns out, we happen to know somebody who benefited from this service. We decided to provide Cass County Animal Rescue with a little surprise of our own. This is a letter from that person:

"As far back as I can remember a dog has been part of my family. Shortly after my husband passed away unexpectedly in April of 2025, I also had to say goodbye to our 13-year-old dog Libby. The loneliness was very difficult so I began an online search for another canine companion. “Bear’s” (her name at the time) picture popped up and I received messages from Cass County Rescue group. We agreed on a day last September to meet at the Morgan County Animal Control, and the dog was brought outside to meet a friend and I. We spent a little bit of time together and I said, “I guess I’ll give her a try.” The dog cried all the way from Jacksonville back to Springfield!

Crate training was a huge challenge, luckily, I have had fenced- in back yards. Shortly after she came to me, we were both attacked by a neighbor dog while on a daily walk, which traumatized us forever. Her name is Missy now, she’s a lab/retriever mix. Her coat is black, with some brown, gray and white hair. AND SHE IS THE BEST DOG!!! She is calm, mild-mannered, crate-trained, gets along well with other dogs (day care once a week), never barks, fine with all people. We took basic obedience classes and are now waiting to get trained so she can be a therapy dog. I would like to take her into schools, maybe have kids read to her, talk to kids about behavior with pets. I’ve had several people tell me she would make a good therapy dog. I do know she has been THERAPY for me; I don’t know what I would do without her in my life now!"

Whimsical Whiskers Rescue is based in Assumption, IL. They have been nothing short of a Godsend for cats in their area, providing critical care and a safe haven for many. Whimsical Whiskers has also requested the help of Feral Funders to raise funds for their TNVR program. The TNVR program is vital to getting in front of a very large overpopulation of stray cats, many of which will become sick or injured without their services.
