Lisa Mobus - Fulbright Colombia Spring 2025

This has nothing to do with my Fulbright work, but I do consider it a professional accomplishment.... I am taking a PD course called "The AI Infused Classroom," and created my first AI-generated image today, using specific prompts and style/content filters! I am pretty excited with how it turned out....🥰

After my meeting at Universidad de los Andes with Dr. Jorge Baxter, my advisor for my Fulbright research project, I stopped for a yummy Mexican lunch and did a little reading. Then I walked across the Parque de Los Periodistas Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and over to the Museo del Oro. Once I left there, I happened across several nearby churches before heading back home.... I was particularly happy to have figured out the Transmilenio bus route!

28 block walk and rooftop sunset! A day in the life....

Well, I just spent 2+ hours getting a SIM card for my unlocked phone, and activating a prepaid package, so I could have access to calling and data off of wifi while I'm moving around the city.... I now have a Colombian phone number, and it only took 3 visits to the Movistar (cell company) store, where you buy the SIM card and get them to solve your technical problems, with back and forth in between to another store where you actually pay for the plan. Everyone I dealt with was very patient with my awkward Spanish, and very helpful. Whew! It was definitely more of an adventure than I'd bargained for!

Haven't been feeling great the last couple days - the altitude has been wreaking havoc on my body! Luckily, the giant window in my living room provides ever-changing scenery... and I've managed to communicate with the building security guards, the cleaning lady that brought some supplies, clerks in the grocery store, and fellow building residents in the elevators!

I'm loving all the murals I'm seeing on my walks around the Chapinero neighborhood!

Evening came, and morning came, the first day! About to head out and find money and food.... Wish me luck!

A new adventure begins.... Off to Bogotá, Colombia for my Fulbright semester!
