For today’s food journey, I let my son be the guide!
Most of the time when he guides us it’s always going to include either sushi, Chinese food, or someplace he can get a spicy chicken sandwich. And as your eyes can see, this journey has taken us to one of his favs, OMO Japanese Soul Food!
✨OMO Tonkatsu Curry: Breaded and fried pork topped with Japanese yellow curry, potatoes, and carrots. It is served with a side of white rice and a salad. This was the first time I had tried their curry, and I am here for it! It’s super savory, not spicy, just a little bit of heat, and a great amount of taters and carrots smothering that super crispy pork! I was able to make two meals out of this, it’s very filling!
✨Spicy Tuna Roll & Rainbow Roll: His must have roll is always a spicy tuna roll, because he loves all things spicy. I went with the rainbow roll that is topped with avocado, salmon, tuna, and yellowtail, then a nice drizzle of ponzu. They have a great selection of sushi to choose from, some of my favs are the Ninja Turtle Roll, the Green Monster Roll, and the Lion King Roll!
✨OMO Spicy Noodle: Spicy, the spiced the better when it comes to his noodle bowl! He rolls with the udon noodles, the OMO spicy broth base, and Chashu, minus all the veg. That broth is fire engine red, brings some heat and he is living his best life!
OMO has some great food, and that ambience is just as good! The decorations on the walls, the lanterns, it’s all so cool! OMO has been a spot that my son has loved forever, and I love that there is a lot of items for him to explore his palate with. What is your go to item when you visit OMO?

One of my households favorite spots to visit in Downtown Springfield is and will always be Greek Belly!
✨Falafel:The falafel is a fan favorite for us. Made from chickpeas, with fresh herbs, and fried golden brown. The falafel are crispy, and savory, and perfectly dunkable in the tzatziki! They are a great earthy and nutty appetizer to share or to keep all to yourself!
✨Villager Salad: Now, I’m already a sucker for the salads at Greek Belly. My go to is the City Greek salad as it’s a work of art. We order the Villager as a side salad, and it’s topped with tomato, cucumber, red onion, green peppers, Greek feta, Greek olive oil, and red wine vinegar. These salads are sliced to order, are super fresh, crisp, and just look at all the colorful veggies!
✨Atlantis Pita: I remember the first time I tried this pita, it was the fact that it has marmalade on it that drew me in, and I have been hooked ever since! This is one of the Legendary pitas and is filled with pork gyro, falafel, peach marmalade, spicy feta, dirty fires, pepperoncini, and cucumbers. Each bite is filled with great texture, the crunch from the falafel, and the fries. The savory gyro, with the creamy and slightly spicy feta, and of course the sweetness from the peach marmalade makes this the ultimate pita!
✨Gyro Platter: This bad boy has got it all. Sliced gyro, crispy fries, Greek slaw, warm pita, throw in a couple dips, and you have a fully customizable meal for the perfect bite, every time!
The entire place is a vibe. From the umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, the music, the flags, and the lights. It’s such a great spot for lunch or dinner with friend and family, or a solo treat!

I have been keeping my eye on this new spot opening in the town that I grew up in, yes y’all already know what I am speaking about, I’m taking about Revive Coffee in Sparta, Mo!
✨Samoa Latte: Typically I am not one to stray from my “go-to” beverages of a cortado or dirty chai, but I was feeling sassy and decided to change it up with the Samoa latte! It is dark chocolate, caramel, and coconut, and yes, it does taste like you are drinking a Samoa or Caramel DeLites Girl Scout cookie, and I am here for it!
The latte is rich, with the dark chocolate flavor, but not overly sweet. The sweetness comes from the caramel, which is ver pleasant, and then BAM, you’re hit with glorious nutty coconut! I ordered it hot, but I would imagine it would get great iced as well!
I also snacked on one of the braided pastries, that was filled with a delicious apple filling. An excellent pairing for the hot latte.
It’s always fun to see new businesses open and help a smaller town continue to grow, especially when it’s the town you spent so much of your life in. The folks at Revive have opened such a beautiful space, with lots of seating, it’s cozy and inviting, with a great menu. I will be back for sure! Y’all should go check them out!
