Happy 5th birthday to the Black Dog. Never too tired to go, and does even if he is.

Ran this track yesterday morning for a group we’ve tracked for on several occasions. The hunter said a low forward quartering away shot. Didn’t sound like any kind of a hit at all when he said 18’ high. They tracked the deer around 350 yards the night of the shot. We came in the next morning. Remi was advanced the track another 250 yards. After that, he gave me “the look”. The look of, I’m chasing a live deer. We searched a couple of areas just for the hunters peice of mind but, nothing ever materialized out of it. The hunter sent me this pic this morning of the buck alive and well. I love it when he’s right.

Ran this one for 1.5 miles. We knew after a mile we were chasing a live deer. We found some fairly large spots where he stopped. We were hoping to catch up to him. Running on lead, it’s almost impossible. He ran us in a circle and almost back the wsy he came. At the 1.5 mile mark Remi jumped the buck up. He trotted off like nothing had happened to him. Hopefully the hunter gets another chance at him. He was a good one.

This one was shot early this afternoon. The deer dropped immediately. When the hunters got up to retrieve their belongings and go get him, he was gone. We started this one around 5pm. First and only blood wasn’t found until around the 225 yard mark. We kept pushing and after a half mile, the buck stood up in front of Remi. Looked at us for about 30 seconds and trotted off hurt, but not dead yet. The hunter went back in to look the next morning and found him 200 yds from where we got him up.
