Scam calls. Be very wary. Our office has had several calls this week asking if a scam call they got was real. One had a voicemail so we listened to it. Here’s the deal: Attorneys do not call you to tell you that you’re being sued and they never say they’re from the “process service office.” No one legitimately does that. If you’re getting sued, you’ll probably either get certified mail or a process server will approach you in person. Tips for these calls:
1. Ask what Court the case is in.
2. Ask who the Plaintiff is.
3. Do NOT give any personal information - many ask for your birthdate.
4. Ask the name of the person calling you, first and last.
5. DO NOT GIVE MONEY!!! No One, and we mean No One, will every ask you to pay a legitimate debt by Western Union or with gift cards.
