Are you a fashionista? Are you an entrepreneur, or a mompreneur? How about a college student, recent graduate, stay-at-home mom or a working mom? If so, this blog is for you! It is for everyone. This is for the young woman you see scrolling down your Instagram feed who just started her career. It is for the mom working long hours then goes home to take care of her family. Also, for the fashionista who splurges, and the fashionista who bargains. This is for students, moms, and working women alike. I dedicate BeBright Daily to all of you, who inspire me on a daily basis. BeBright Daily is your constant reminder to “Be Bright.” Come along with me on my journey through transitioning from a full-time college student, to starting my career. From being young and carefree, to being a new mother. You’ll experience life through my eyes and from many others on similar (or not-so-similar) paths as mine. The inspiration behind BeBrightDaily.com is a culmination of my love for all things social media, journalism, PR, and content creation. On my birth day, my mom gave me the perfect name, Brittany E. Bright. It shortens to B.E.Bright. So, my name speaks for itself! I believe it is important to be a reminder to myself and to others to always “Be Bright.” I am a graduate of the University of Mississippi, but that is not the only thing 2016 has given me. In August, I began my career at a full service Advertising agency. In November, I gave birth to my first child, Jaxon. He is the best part of me and I am his personal mommarazzi! So, treat yo-self and follow me on my post-grad, new mom journey. xoxo

My 9 y/o son said to me, "Hey mommy. Who is your rival?"

I said, "Well, I don't have a rival because I don't believe in things like that."

So he replied, "who do you know that has a rival?"

And I said, "I don't really know if the people I know has rivals. It's just my personal philosophy that I don't believe in having them."

His question is making me think about why I don't, because I've never really considered it, given that I've been in MANY competitions, from pageants, to academics, professional, and sports competitions.

But even during those competitions, where I'm competing against someone else, I'm never measuring THEM. I'm only ever measuring myself and what I can accomplish.

When I win, it's because luck met preparation. That has nothing to do with the person across from me.

Someone else can be brilliant without it diminishing me.

Someone can be ahead of me without becoming my rival.

Somebody can even be doing the exact thing I want to do, and my response is pure curiosity rather than threat.

None of that requires me to make another person my opponent.

Rivalries, IMHO, are an emotional investment in someone else. You have to keep score. You have to monitor them. Their wins have to mean something about YOUR position. Their losses have to mean something about yours.

Now, WHY IN THE WORLD would I give somebody that much authority over how I evaluate my own progress??

I love when he asks me questions that gets my brain turning, because then I can share my personal philosophies with him.

He doesn't have to accept my philosophies as his own. But, my mom raised me to be my own person, and I want him to continue learning how to be his own person.

"Keep your eyes on your own paper, and don't worry about what someone else has on their plate when you have food on yours."

This time last year, I visited Martha’s Vineyard for the first time, and fell head over heels in love. 🥹 (and I got to hear Yara Shahidi, Jasmine Crockett, and NASA Pilot Victor Glover speak 🖤)

I look forward to going back. Oak Bluffs felt like home.

I spoke at Essence Fest this month on the Global Black Economic Forum stage, discussing the importance of social media, AI, and healthcare.

I have so many people to thank, so I will do a true recap soon. 🖤💚

If you love bubbles, watch this video to the end! 🤭

My notifications have been 🔥 since I announced I was headed to the South of France for the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity for the FIRST TIME. You woulda thought I was at a Beyoncé concert (if you get the reference, you’re one of my people).

Making the decision to attend as the Creative Founder of The Influencer League and Gage AI was not an easy decision.

Because… I’m a mom. 🤗 I have 3 kids who attend school year-round. Which means, Cannes falls smack dab in the middle of our very short, 6-week summer break.

So, I will be making the most of this trip. My goal for Cannes is simple - I’m coming to talk about the things that make people uncomfortable!

And that’s Information Asymmetry. It’s the entire thesis for why I founded TIL in 2019, and why Gage is a direct solution to the influencer & creator pay gap.

It starts with knowledge.

And I’m bringing it to Cannes.

Stick with me for the next month as I share more about this chaotic journey to the South of France!

While you’re following along, be sure to check out my article about Information Asymmetry - you know where the find the link!

Y’all, I’m officially headed to Cannes for the first time! (and my mama is still texting me question marks about it 😅).

Straight from Mississippi to France, I’ll be on La Croisette in June as a creator delegate at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

I’ve spent years watching this industry from the inside, running brand campaigns at agencies, teaching creators how the business actually works, and being the bridge between all sides. In 2021, I co-authored a study with MSL that showed a 35% pay gap between Black and white influencers. That was five years ago. The gap still persists.

The same problem keeps showing up everywhere I look. Brands negotiate against benchmarks they won’t show creators. They know what a creator is worth before that creator opens the email, and the creator walks in with none of that information.

That gap is why I built .

TIL exists to close it, to put real information in creators’ hands so they walk into the room knowing what the other side already knows.

And it’s why I built Gage, a coach and creator strategist I trained on my decade in this industry, so every creator has someone in their corner who already knows what the other side knows. She’s me in your pocket, the part of me that’s done the work and wants you walking in ready.

So for the next month, I’m taking you with me while I get ready. This is a journey, and I’m telling it over thirty days. What’s shifting in this industry, who keeps getting left out, and what I’m building to change it.

Wheels up to Cannes, T-minus 31 days!!

I want to put faces to names, so pop into the comments and say “hi!” & share with me why you’re going. 🤭 (and if you want to connect before then, DM me!!)
