Congratulations to Steve Malek and the Xtreme Bird team on taking the win at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, Wisconsin, over Labor Day weekend! Racing with the Chicago Wise Guys, Steve battled his way into the finals and brought it home in the 1970 Xtreme Bird at a blistering 226 MPH! 💨🏆

There’s just something awesome about seeing that unmistakable Superbird shape still turning heads — and WINNING — at the drag strip more than 50 years later!

🇦🇺 Builds Sporting Janak Parts — Australia!

Daytona or Superbird — which would you rather have?

For Brian & Faye Dowell, the answer was easy… BOTH!

After enjoying their Superbird for around 15 years, they decided there was only one way to round out the collection — with a Daytona!

And what a Daytona it turned out to be! It combines that unmistakable classic Wing Car look with modern performance, comfort, and reliability. Power comes from a 6.4L HEMI backed by a TKX 5-speed manual, with modern front seats making it even more enjoyable behind the wheel.

Brian says the Daytona attracts attention everywhere it goes, and one of the best compliments we can receive is hearing that he tells people about the Janak kit and how well everything went together.

The car has even caught the attention of the Australian media! It was featured in Street Machine magazine and received a nice write-up in The Bridge covering a car show in Kerang, Victoria.

Seeing the finished builds sporting our parts is always one of the highlights of what we do. It’s especially cool knowing Janak parts that started right here in Texas are helping put Daytonas and Superbirds on the road all over the world. 🇺🇸🇦🇺

Updates on builds sporting Janak parts! What if Bo Duke had traded the General Lee for a Daytona… powered by a 370 HEMI NASCAR engine?!

Imagine the 2004 Dukes of Hazzard movie with the aerodynamics of a wing car and the horsepower of a modern NASCAR engine. That’s exactly the vision behind The Duketona, built by Mark Taeschner of Black Diamond, Washington.

This incredible “what if” build is powered by a 370 HEMI NASCAR engine topped with dual 4-barrel carburetors, blending classic Mopar muscle with race-inspired performance. The result is a one-of-a-kind Daytona tribute that looks like it drove straight off the movie set.

Mark even made it a family project, with his granddaughter Lily helping install some of the finishing touches—creating memories that will last a lifetime.

We’re also proud to recognize Mark’s service as a U.S. Army veteran. Thank you for your service, and thank you for preserving American automotive history. 🇺🇸

Mark is no stranger to extraordinary restorations. He also restored PBR-6827, the last surviving U.S. Navy Vietnam Riverine Patrol Boat, helping preserve an important piece of our nation’s military heritage.
