Writing a book was always a goal of mine since high school (way back in the '70s) and I even had a basic outline/manuscript roughed out, but marriage, kids, career, and a lack of private/quiet time put a damper on that goal for a while. But after recently retiring at age 62, I plugged into my office at home and just made it happen. While some of the basic plot/themes changed over the years, the core characters and general concept never did and it's very rewarding to finally have the book I envisioned so long ago in printed/published form.

After floating the original/rough manuscript to a number of traditional publishers many years ago and getting a lukewarm response (if any at all) I decided on self-publishing as the way to go because I wasn't (am not) looking for any great commercial success/reaction, and instead remained focused on just getting my book completed. While underestimating the challenges (and even the cost) of self-publishing, I'm now glad I chose that route because flaws and all, it's most certainly "my" work and something I can share with friends and family today, tomorrow, and forever.
