VBS Day 2. He did it!😁
He did it because his 2 patient buddies speak Grayson.💙
😇As they led him into the sanctuary, he looked back to see if I was coming, so I stayed.
😇Ms. Mandy & Ms. Victoria recognized when it was time to pull him from the general assembly in the sanctuary. They are on fire for Jesus!😁 (see video in COMMENTS)
😇They took him to the shaded (and empty) playground to get back to his happy place (and to have a snack that I brought.)
😇Ms. Victoria climbed up on the play structure with him to give him his adapted Bible lesson for the day.
Back indoors, he went to his regular Sunday class where his two classmates were checking out the sensory bin set up for them based on today’s lesson. He played while they had their lesson.
Today was Rec Day instead of Craft Day. The gym was overwhelming yesterday, so they used the smaller Rec Room that one of the little friends invited him to.
These modifications meant no meltdowns. He stayed engaged. So, when he asked to leave after 1.5 hours, I obliged.
So proud of my little dude. W.A.V.E.S is truly a blessing at Lake Bowen Baptist Church.🙏🏽

He tried VBS at Lake Bowen Baptist Church!
He insisted that I stay, so I did, but I tried to remain more in the background.
Some parts went over well and others not so much. He was paired with two great buddies that he already knew from W.A.V.E.S that were with him every step of the way.🙏🏽
He lasted the two hours, participated as best he could, and worked with us during the times when dysregulation crept in.
We will be back tomorrow and will make some modifications.

Reminder! For those of you in the Mauldin/Simpsonville/Fountain Inn area, this VBS starts tomorrow! Hannah King and her team are super sweet with our kiddos.❤️
☀️SUMMER HAS OFFICIALLY ARRIVED and our little guy is making sure Day ONE is celebrated the right way! 💦😎
From sleeping 12 hours followed by eating heartily at breakfast to splashing on his inflatable water park in the yard while kicking back with his favorite kiddie videos, he’s fully embracing every second of summer fun. 🌊📺
This 7-year-old reminds us that the best days are the ones filled with sunshine, laughter, wet grass between your toes, loved ones nearby, happy stims, and not a single worry in the world. ☀️✨
Summer memories are already being made, and this is only the beginning! 🌈🍉🏖️
Later he will trade the water play for an evening at VBS! 📚⛪ We’re excited to see what adventures and lessons tonight will bring.
