Before school ended, OES third graders spent time with the Audubon Society exploring our school grounds, including our nature center, learning about native plant and animal species.

South End's second graders celebrated our Veterans and America 250 with a red, white and blue patriotic performance. Students shared facts about our flag,Old Glory, and our country while serenading their families with patriotic songs! Land of the Free, Home of the Brave.

It was a fantastic evening at SEES as our orchestra and band played to a packed audience! Under the direction of Mrs. Heather Shane beginning band and orchestra showcased their talents while our advanced musicians students stole the show!

JFK Middle School would like to thank our bus drivers for all they do to keep our students safe! We appreciate each one!

Learning doesn’t stop when school ends in June, and we love seeing our students keep their minds active all summer long. Just 20 minutes of reading each day can help prevent the “summer slide” and keep those skills sharp for the year ahead!

The inaugural 8th grade art show featuring the combined talents of JFK and JAD 8th graders was a success. Kudos to our talented artists.

DES Celebrated America 250 on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Students took a WHOLE SCHOOL 250 picture, had an assembly where the Mattatuck Fife and Drum Band came to play, and the 4th graders presented their "Wax Figures" for important Americans. The DES PTO commissioned a former DES student to paint a gorgeous America 250 mural over the Auditorium doors. DES Art Teacher, Maria Lappas, choose to have our 5th grade legacy project commemorating the 250th year of our country.

Congratulations to the 8th grade class at JFK on their promotion to high school. Ceremonies were held on Wednesday, June 17th, acknowledging this accomplishment. We are proud of them!
