North Haven Animal Control Questions-how are you going to distinguish a feral cat from a friendly, owned cat? Just going to kill them all? What local newspaper will you be publishing the description of each cat you trap (per law). Law says you can only impound and kill cats that are “doing damage or creating unsanitary conditions” so what criteria are you using to determine that for each cat? Or again, are you just going to kill everything you trap regardless? I hope you will be keeping extremely good records of every cat you trap and the reason they are killed since this same law says an Animal Control officer can be removed from their position if they “take a cat unlawfully.” A FOI request will be coming soon. This is barbaric and a waste of taxpayers money. Instead consider becoming part of the solution which is TNR.

No lilies!

Lilies are DEADLY to cats. Even a little bit of pollen, which may fall from the flowers onto a table, be walked on by the cat, and subsequently licked off of the paw, can be fatal! Please do not purchase flower arrangements with lilies in them if they will be in a home with kitties.

Have you ever met an adult cat that when you go to pet it, it thought you were playing and in turn tried to nip your fingers? Not out of anger or fear, but just not understanding boundaries around biting. This cat, was a single kitten. And single kitten syndrome is one of the most important, and least widely known things when adopting out kittens! While you can still get single kittens from city shelters and Craigslist, I beg you, share this with anyone who’s considering just 1 kitten and implore them to get 2, or an adult!
