Subject: reporting a found German Shorthaired Pointer, young female found this weekend
Hi,

My friends and I rescued a GSP - female, ?1-2 years old from the side
of the road near the Virginia International Speedway on Saturday - dog
was hungry, exhausted. We are in Raleigh NC and my friend is
sheltering the dog and we are trying to find the owner if possible or
a no-kill shelter if possible as neither of us can keep the dog. She
is well-behaved. No tag, no chip. Camouflage collar.

My friend has posted this on Pawboost:
https://www.pawboost.com/landing/pet/by6yVoxEcks1Duw9NeC-O2kak31UUyEK/found-stray-unknown-milton-nc-27305

Has anyone reported a missing dog like this?

Please let me know and also if your shelters are no-kill.

Thank you

Debra Bailey

This poor dog has been wandering around the Town of Halifax since last Tuesday. He has a broken leash on and he was standing on the street a little while ago howling. It’s clear that he’s lost. But, we can’t catch him. He’s narrowly missed being hit several times. Please share in case someone is looking for him. EDIT: THIS IS HALIFAX, VA

This little guy was picked up today by Officer Allison Dunn at the Double Bubbles Laundromat on Old Halifax Road. It was determined that he was just a “good boy” trying to stay cool on a hot Summer day ☀️

He wishes to let his family know he’ll be “chilling” at the Halifax County Animal Control Shelter waiting to be picked up.

As a reminder, Virginia law requires all dogs must be given adequate food, water and shelter during extremely hot weather. Additionally, pets cannot be tethered outside when the temperature is either above 85 degrees or below 32 degrees with the required length of a tethered rope or leash being at least 15 feet UNLESS an Animal Control Officer, having inspected an animal's individual circumstances has determined the animal to be safe from predators, well suited, and well equipped to tolerate its environment per the Code of Virginia §3.2-6500.

We recently had some work done to our transport van. This van helps take animals to and from vet appointments as well to the various rescues we work with. The cost of repairs were over $1000, so we are asking for any help or shares to cover repairs. Thank you for all of your continous support!

When Pigs Fly BBQ, llc

Hey South Boston friends: We have GREAT NEWS! We'll be back in South Boston for the First Annual "BBQ and Paws" event from Thursday, October 29, through Saturday, November 7, 2020. We'll be back at our usual location, across from the South Boston WalMart, between the two gas stations. Hours 11-6, or we run out.

We'll have all of your favorites, including our almost famous SOBO baked, smashed and stuffed potato, pulled pork, chicken, ribs, and all the fixin's.

This is a benefit for the Halifax County Humane Society. Bring a donation of dog or cat food, a pet toy, or even some cash for the humane society and we'll give you a free tea with your meal purchase, just to say thanks. We'll also be having at least one adopt-a-thon day. So, help us support this excellent cause.

Covid precautions will again be in effect. We ask you to observe social distance and wear an appropriate face covering, and be prepared to order your sauce when you arrive so we can get it ready for you.

We look forward to having a chance to see you one more time this year! As always, please share this post as Facebook is the only advertising we do, and it really does help to spread the word.

Thanks again to all of our customers!

Kellen and Mike
