Sometimes people don't struggle because they aren't capable.
Sometimes they struggle because they don't have the information they need to succeed.
Early in my accounting career, I spent nearly a week trying to figure out where numbers in a bank tax return were coming from. I thought I was missing something.
Turns out, I didn't even have access to the system where the information lived.
That experience taught me something I've never forgotten:
People contribute more when they feel included, informed, and equipped to succeed.
It's hard to take ownership when you don't have all the pieces of the puzzle.
And it's impossible to feel like part of the team when everyone else has the keys to the clubhouse and you're still rattling the doorknob trying to get in.
I'm curious...
Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to help, but you were missing information nobody realized you needed?
Tell me about it in the comments. 👇
Have you ever worked somewhere that every decision had to go through one person?
I worked with a company that grew from about 25 employees to over 200 in just a few years.
The owners were smart, hardworking, and cared deeply about the business.
But there was one problem.
Every decision eventually found its way back to them.
Over time, managers stopped deciding.
Employees stopped taking initiative.
And the owners became overwhelmed carrying responsibilities they were never meant to carry alone.
It got me thinking...
When leaders feel like everything comes back to them, is it really an ownership problem?
Or have people learned they need permission for everything?
I'm curious:
What's the longest you've ever had to wait because one person had to approve, decide, or sign off on something?
Tell me about it in the comments. 👇
One of the biggest things that hit me after this webinar…
was realizing how many accounting firm owners have normalized operational exhaustion.
They think:
“This is just leadership.”
“This is what I signed up for.”
“This is just part of owning a business.”
So the:
constant interruptions…
questions all day…
mentally carrying unfinished tasks home…
feeling anxious stepping away from the business…
and feeling like everything still flows through you…
just starts feeling normal.
And after a while, owners stop questioning it because:
“that’s just the way it’s always been.”
But honestly?
I don’t think accounting firms were ever meant to operate this heavily.
And I don’t think owners were ever supposed to carry all of this mentally alone.
That’s why this webinar mattered so much to me.
Because this conversation was NOT really about software.
It was about understanding:
why firms become operationally dependent on the owner
why teams lose confidence
why delegation becomes so stressful
and why so many owners still feel trapped inside businesses they worked so hard to build
And honestly… I think many people saw themselves differently after this conversation.
So if you missed it live, I really encourage you to watch the replay.
Especially if:
you feel like everything still depends on you
your team constantly comes back with questions
delegation feels exhausting
or you feel like you never truly unplug from the firm
I genuinely believe this conversation will resonate deeply with you.

This conversation hit harder emotionally than I expected.
Yesterday’s webinar was bigger than task management systems.
We talked about:
why so many accounting firm owners still feel mentally responsible for everything
why delegation keeps breaking down
why communication becomes exhausting
and why so many firms still fully depend on the owner… even after hiring people and implementing systems
And one of the biggest realizations people had during the webinar was this:
Software alone does NOT create operational clarity.
You can have:
systems…
checklists…
processes…
technology…
and still operate in chaos if:
communication is reactive
expectations are unclear
ownership lacks visibility
and operational knowledge still lives inside the owner’s head
That realization shifted a lot for people.
Because many owners started realizing:
maybe this isn’t actually a people problem.
Maybe the firm itself has unintentionally trained dependency over time.
And honestly… that changes the entire conversation.
Because once you stop blaming people and start looking at operational clarity differently…
everything starts shifting:
leadership…
communication…
team confidence…
ownership…
and even the emotional weight of running the firm.
If you missed the webinar live — or if you want to go back through the conversation again — I’m opening the replay for a limited time.
And honestly… I think this is a conversation many accounting firm owners need right now.

Today’s the day.
And honestly… I’ve been thinking a lot about the accounting firm owners who are going to hear this conversation today and realize:
“It’s not just me.”
Because so many owners are silently carrying:
the stress…
the pressure…
the mental overload…
the constant interruptions…
and the emotional weight of holding everything together…
Without fully realizing how operationally dependent the business has become on them.
And after a while, it just starts feeling normal.
Normal to answer questions all day long.
Normal to constantly follow up.
Normal to mentally carry unfinished tasks home.
Normal to feel anxious stepping away from the business.
Honestly… I thought it was normal too.
But I don’t think accounting firms were ever supposed to operate this heavily.
And I don’t think owners were ever supposed to carry all of this mentally alone.
That’s why this webinar matters so much to me.
Because this conversation is bigger than systems.
This impacts:
leadership
team confidence
communication
client experience
stress
family life
and the ability to ever truly unplug from the business
And I think many owners know deep down that something operationally is not working the way it should…
But they haven’t been able to fully explain WHY.
That’s what we’re unpacking today.
And this is NOT the kind of webinar you throw on in the background while reviewing returns.
This is a conversation you actually want to be present for.
Because I genuinely believe it’s going to shift the way many firm owners think about:
leadership…
delegation…
systems…
communication…
and operational clarity moving forward.
We go live today at 2 PM Eastern.
And if you feel like your firm is still fully dependent on you…
I want you in this conversation.

Tomorrow we're talking about why so many firms still feel reactive even after implementing systems.
And honestly?
This quote says it all.
Most firms don't need another tool.
They need a system that creates clarity, visibility, ownership, and follow-through.
That's the conversation we're having tomorrow.
Tomorrow’s webinar is not really about task management systems.
That’s just the surface conversation.
What we’re actually talking about is this:
Why so many accounting firm owners still feel like everything depends on them.
Because honestly… I don’t think most owners set out to build a business that emotionally consumes them.
But slowly over time, the owner becomes:
the reminder system…
the approval process…
the follow-up…
the communication bridge…
the workflow…
and the operational memory for the entire firm.
And eventually even simple things start feeling heavy.
Questions never stop.
Interruptions become normal.
Delegation feels stressful instead of relieving.
And even with a team in place…
the owner still feels mentally responsible for everything.
I know that feeling because I lived it.
I know what it’s like to physically leave work…
but mentally never actually leave.
And I also know what it’s like to finally realize:
this isn’t just a workload problem.
It’s an operational clarity problem.
That realization changed everything for my business.
Because once we stopped trying to just “work harder” and started looking at:
communication…
visibility…
ownership…
workflow…
and operational dependency differently…
everything started changing.
The business started feeling lighter.
The team became more confident.
Trust improved.
Communication improved.
And leadership changed.
One of the biggest things I see inside firms is this:
Owners expect the team to know priorities and expectations that were never actually operationally clarified.
For example:
firms will have task management systems in place…
but nothing clearly shows:
what’s actually urgent
what “done” truly means
or how work should move operationally across the team
So work gets kicked back and forth constantly.
I call it “ping pong ball.”
And eventually the owner starts feeling like:
“It’s just easier if I do it myself.”
That’s exhausting.
And honestly… I think a lot of firm owners need this conversation more than they realize.
This webinar is NOT:
another software demo
productivity hacks
or another webinar you halfway listen to while answering emails
This is a real conversation about why so many firms still feel reactive and dependent on the owner… even after hiring people and implementing systems.

"Learning to delegate to my management team has made things better not just for me, but for them too. I can see their confidence growing."
One of the biggest misconceptions I see in accounting firms is that delegation is about getting work off the owner's plate.
It's not.
Great delegation builds confidence.
It creates ownership.
It helps people grow into leadership.
But that only happens when the business creates enough clarity for people to succeed without constantly coming back to the owner.
Otherwise delegation becomes:
more questions,
more follow-up,
and more frustration.
That's one of the biggest conversations we're having on June 9th.
Because the goal isn't just to get work done.
The goal is to build a firm where people can confidently move work forward without everything flowing back through the owner.
If that resonates with you, I'd love to have you join us live.
