The weather cooperated today and a great number of volunteers and community groups came out to help us fill care packages for our deployed Troops.
We had representatives from Buddy Check Bakery, Centerwell Clinic, the Slidell Masons #311, and the Wonderful Sales (Pistachios, etc.) We had twins that were earning service hours for an organization at Pearl River High, a volunteer's daughter earning hours for Arch Bishop Hannan High School, and other children and grandchildren just learning to give back to the community. Thanks to all of our volunteers, our supporters, our box painters and card writers, our talented sewing ladies, and label makers, our sorters, recyclers, box tapers, and those of you who pick up and drop off at our monthly donation drop boxes for us.
We pray for the safety and return of our deployed military, and hope they are enjoying our "we care" packages each month.
We are "Home of the Free, BECAUSE of the Brave!"

Slidell Ladies for Liberty is always so grateful to Southside Cafe for asking us to help with the Southside Bushwacker Golf Classic each year. Today the SLFL Bushwacker chairpersons stopped at Southside to pick up a very generous check. Each year, the Bushwacker profits are given to Slidell Ladies for Liberty, Navy Seal Foundation, and the Shriners Hospital for Children.

We've reviewed the forecast for tomorrow and it looks like the weather will be cooperating while we pack. We understand if anyone is concerned about the wind or water on roads and chooses not to attend. Most of us are planning to fill care packages tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9 a.m. We hope to see you there ❤️🤍💙

A big shout out to Darren Darby, owner of Creole Bagelry, and Kyle Ross at Abita Roasting Company, for their generous monthly donation of fresh ground Abita Roast Coffee for the deployed Troops. Kelly Lutman picked up 50 pound bags for SLFL to ship on Wednesday in our care packages. Thank you Darren and Kyle!

Slidell Ladies for Liberty volunteers proudly attended the Slidell Elks Lodge Flag Day ceremony this afternoon. It was an informative event featuring military and Scout groups presenting the American flags used throughout the last 250 years. We appreciated being asked to join in singing patriotic songs. ❤️🇺🇸💙

Children and adults came by our SLFL Thank-a- Soldier table at this morning’s Camellia City Farmers Market. They left us with notes of appreciation and sweet coloring pages to show appreciation to our deployed Troops. We will send these in our care pages at our next packing on Wednesday, June 17th.
We are grateful for our Thank-a-Soldier Chairperson Renee Arsenault, and volunteers Jahneen McBrayer and Carolyn Russo. Jahneen hand sews beautiful items like purses, children’s clothes and blankets, casserole covers, walker pocket bags, and other lovely items and generously gives them in exchange for donations to SLFL postage fund. We hope to see you at the next first Saturday in July market.
