Tell me, what's your biggest struggle with getting loose??
🎨
One of the biggest loose watercolor mistakes is thinking every detail needs to be clear.
But in loose florals, softness is what keeps the painting breathing.
A few defined edges help guide the eye.
Too many defined edges can make everything feel tight, outlined, or overworked.
Try this: after adding detail, soften just part of the edge with a damp brush. Let some areas blur back into the painting.
Less fixing. More flow. 🌿

For when you don't know where to start. 🌸
You don't need all 9. Just pick one and paint today.
1️⃣ Wet-in-wet — petals that bleed softly into each other, the way watercolor was born to move.
2️⃣ Wet on dry — crisp edges, every petal exactly where you placed it.
3️⃣ Dry brush — whispered texture, like petals catching light at their tips.
4️⃣ Layering — depth built through patience, one dried wash at a time.
5️⃣ Lifting — stealing light back from a petal with nothing but a damp brush.
6️⃣ Variegated wash — two colors breathing into one another before either one dries.
7️⃣ Puddle method — a reservoir of clean water, thick creamy pigment dropped in, then you let it go.
8️⃣ Charging — a second color sent into wet paint, and the flower decides where it grows.
9️⃣ Minimal stroke — one mark, one petal, done.
Save this for when you sit down 🌸
