We are so happy to announce and share the joyous news of Kaylee and Nick’s first born baby, Kolt Nicholas Haugen! 🩵 💙 Their healthy son arrived on 5/16/25 at 3:27 pm 19” 7 lbs.

Kaylee, Nick, and Kolt are all doing well, enjoying life as a family of three! Kaylee wants to thank all of our patients who have inquired about her little one, sending well wishes and prayers. She is very grateful for the love and support!

Dr. Lohr never gave up hope we’d find a GREAT hygienist to join our team! Welcome Olivia! 😁🪥 🦷 We are thrilled that Olivia chose our office to start her dental hygiene career graduation from dental hygiene school in Minnesota. She and her fiancée are excited to start their life together in Iowa. She has hit the ground running and fits in with our team like a dream! Please give Olivia a warm welcome when you see her at LFD! ⭐️

Kaylee is official!! 🤓 🦷 We are so happy to announce that Kaylee has completed her dental assistant trainee program and is now a registered dental assistant! 🪥 We are very proud of all her efforts in the last six months. Dr. Lohr could not be more proud of the DA team of Lisa, Lindsey, and Alyx, who dedicated a TON of time training and teaching to help Kaylee be successful!

Good deed Wednesday!! 🥰 Our business manager Chris is often an unsung hero, however today he warrants a round of applause 👏🏼 and some high fives 🙌🏻 We had a patient arrive for her scheduled appointment a bit frazzled and slightly emotional when she saw she had a flat tire. 🛞 She had attempted to reach her husband but was unsuccessful. She was worried about how she’d get home to her kids with a flat. Chris saved the day when found her spare and promptly changed her tire in the parking lot. We think he’s quite the MAN and are so grateful for his kindness and humor; as he joked with her that we are a FULL service dental 🦷 🚗 practice. 😂

Weekend emergencies unfortunately happen. Dr. Lohr is always on call. Saturday afternoon was no exception. 🦷 💜

Nine year old Autumn fell down the stairs at her home and injured her mouth fracturing a front tooth and displacing another. Her mother attempted to get ahold of their new dental office three times, leaving a message for the on call dentist. No return phone call was made to the mother of the child. Feeling desperate, she started calling other offices to see who could help her daughter. Dr. Lohr received the voicemail while she was on a run and stopped to walk on her run in order to call the mother back. Dr. Lohr did not want to step on the new office’s toes as she respects her dental colleagues in town, and assumed a valid reason for not calling the mother back. She gave some simple emergency advice over the phone and encouraged the mother to give their office more time to respond to the call. Dr. Lohr even attempted to reach the docs at the office personally to give them an opportunity to care for their patient.

The dentist on call told Dr. Lohr she would not be able to help the child.

After another hour gone by, the mother told Dr. Lohr she was going to take Autumn to the ER as she was worried about the exposed and fractured tooth. Dr. Lohr offered to meet the family at her office to care for Autumn. Lindsey, one of our wonderful EFDAs, was willing to come into the office on Saturday to help out.

Dr. Lohr and Lindsey worked efficiently to comfort Autumn, obtain a radiograph of the injured area, and disinfect the wound, repair the fractured tooth and give post operative instructions. Follow up today over the phone, Autumn’s mother reports she’s doing great!

Takeaway lessons:

1. Dentistry is NOT a commodity.
2. Dentistry is about PEOPLE not profits or convenience.
3. Compassion is lacking in our profession. Please find a compassionate dentist.
4. Find a dentist who will provide the same emergency care they’d do for their own child, for yours!

It’s Career Fair Day! Alyx and Kaylee wowed tons of kids today teaching them all about great oral hygiene 🪥 habits, how to prevent tooth 🦷 decay, and what a wonderful career opportunity there is in the field of dentistry! Dr. Lohr showed several kids photos from the Gross, Disgusting, and Totally Cool Mouth Book which gathered a large crowd of middle school boys. 😂 A super fun experience at Sacred Heart school on our Wednesday!

Baby 🩵 💙 boy fever for Kaylee! Happy baby shower day for this hard working mama! Due to arrive this May, Kaylee is getting ready to welcome their first baby, a son, with her husband Nick. We were so excited to shower her today with lunch and desserts from the Sugar Shack plus a couple of gifts for her sweet bundle of joy! A pack and play and baby carrier from our team made her day, plus a visit from Tatum. 🐾 +nick=love+baby
