It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Chris Tuso, beloved wife of Councilman Jerry Tuso.

During this difficult time, Councilman Tuso and his family are deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support from the Simpsonville community. Chris was the heart of their family, and her memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Thank you to the Greenville County GOP for inviting me to the Meetup at Carolina Fine Foods.

It was fantastic to connect with so many committed patriots and have the opportunity to speak directly to Simpsonville voters.

We were especially happy to support this excellent local business while sharing what we’re fighting for on the City Council!

I wanted to take a moment to explain my recent votes against the proposed Impact Fees Resolution (see attached agenda item).

When I campaigned for this seat, I was a strong supporter of impact fees, but with a very clear purpose in mind: the revenue generated should primarily benefit the citizens who are already here by addressing critical infrastructure needs, especially our overburdened roads, traffic congestion, and public safety.

The current resolution directs funds toward an Impact Fee Study and Capital Improvement Plan that emphasizes parks, recreation facilities, and additional municipal amenities. While parks are nice to have, they should not be the priority when our existing residents are dealing with growing traffic problems, strained roads, and other essential services that directly impact daily quality of life.

My vote against this item reflects my commitment to ensuring that any new impact fees are used responsibly and transparently - first and foremost for core infrastructure like roads and public safety, not for expanding recreational facilities at this time.

I remain open to a well-designed impact fee program that puts roads and essential citizen services first. I will continue to advocate for fiscal responsibility and policies that protect and improve the quality of life for the families who call Simpsonville home.

Thank you for your understanding, and please feel free to reach out with any questions.

God Bless,

Jerry Tuso

Winter weather alert for Simpsonville and the Upstate! ❄️🌨️

Governor Henry McMaster has declared a state of emergency ahead of this incoming winter storm. This activates state agencies, allows National Guard mobilization, and helps coordinate local efforts to keep us safe.

A winter storm watch is in effect from Saturday morning through Monday afternoon, with potential for heavy mixed precipitation (snow, sleet, ice), icy roads, power outages that could last days, and dangerously cold wind chills Monday night into Tuesday. Travel could be very hazardous- avoid unnecessary trips if possible!

Check out the latest winter storm information and preparations from the City of Simpsonville here:

https://www.simpsonville.com/news-events/winter-storm-information/

Key tips from the city, state, and National Weather Service:
- Prepare for possible power outages (check Duke Energy or Laurens Electric).
- Have emergency supplies ready (water, non-perishable food, blankets, medications, flashlights, batteries).
- Use space heaters safely—never leave them unattended.
- Check on elderly neighbors, family, and those who may need help.
- Stay off the roads to help crews keep them clear for emergencies.

If you (or anyone you know) need any assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Stay safe, everyone - monitor local forecasts closely as conditions can change quickly.
