I wanted to stop for a minute and remember a friend who passed last week( I just found out) William . He was a nice man, a good friend and good neighbor! Always willing to help us at the Salvation Army on commodities days, he brought food back to his neighbors who couldn’t get out. He had a sweet smile , a great laugh and he will be missed!
Thank you to all the parents who came out to collect the totes for the Kids Culinary Program! I know it was alittle hectic but this is a new way of us to do this program and we appreciate your patience as we learn together! Can’t wait to see it go live tomorrow evening ! Big thank you to Lt Heather, my husband Albert, , Sherry,The A Team,Martin,Huan, Chris, Loretta and everyone else who had a hand in pulling those totes and food together! Another big thank you to Lt Ty, Mark, Stephanie for making the technical end work! Of course a big thank you to Chef Lora for all your hard work to help us make the recipes and our class happen! See all of you tomorrow!
do you have a clothing/furniture store?
Please post a statement in support of #blacklivesmatter. Many other Salvation Army pages have done this, and it's so important at this time to show our black and brown youth and soldiers that the Salvation Army cares about them and will stand up against the injustices they face.
Friends please stop by Walmart today. Bring a gift for a child and donate to the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. The Red Kettles are now set up for smartphone donations. Help a local family in need.
Well, yesterday was a very scarey day for me and my family. My husband was taken to the emergency room with very bad dizziness and they thought he had a stroke. We both volunteer here and the love and support we received yesterday including a visit from staff filled my heart ! The constant contact and support with prayers attached from all worked,it wasn’t a stroke and my husband was able to come home last night instead of being admitted.
A huge thank you to the staff, you guys are definitely family and mean the world to us!
To the Captains Carlos and Gil, your support let us know we were not alone in this and our family was bigger than just us. Your love came thru on shinning beams of light that warmed us ,comforted us,and let us know we are home every time we walk thru the door to your building! thank you for letting us feel the strength of your prayers and letting us know that God was with us during this trying time and everyday. We definitely felt the concern and well wishes from everyone there wrap around us and keep us safe. There are no words to describe the peace and comfort each one of you gave us that we could turn to and be helped up when we get weak and fall.
Tony made from scratch , his Italian Shepard’s Pie! It was a huge hit! Thank you Tony !!!!!!!( he wasn’t getting into the day at all!!!!😉)
Thank you so much for hosting the CPR,Stop The Bleeding and the opioid classes on Saturday. I learned so much plus I had a blast! Thanks to the teachers,Barbra,Mike, the firemen who came ! Big shout out of thanks to Carolyn,Toni and Ron for Lunch! Big thanks to Martin for taking care of all of us for the day! I am looking forward to the next set of classes! I have so many ideas to share with Captain Carlos and Captain Jill as well as the other volunteers on ways this knowledge can help those we serve in the community.
Well today was a frustrating day in a few ways, but still learned a few new things and best of all got to help people. As I sat at the front desk looking out the window I saw our new bushes out front in full bloom and butterflies happily investigating ,reminding me that the simple things can be the most special and precious.
Tomorrows special menu for lunch- Roast Beef, potatoes and broccoli! Wow,the building is going to smell amazing!
Well today I am even prouder than yesterday!
Not only did our distribution of senior citizens commodities
Come in 7 th among some neighboring counties,we are 1 in Cocnise county! I am so grateful for the wonderful fellow volunteers who help us to distribute these senior boxes, bags and Cheese. Thank you to each special Salvation Army volunteer who helps us accomplish this !
Thank you to Captain Carlos and Captain Jill for letting me share in your dreams! You guys are awesome! This volunteer gig keeps getting better and better.
Thank you for inviting me to like this page. I hadn't known it was here, and I'm a very strong fan of the Salvation Army.

Today, we were able to provide Sheriff Dannels and the Cochise County Police Department, Heat Relief & COVID19 care package bags for those being released from incarceration.

These bags contain some of the essentials that one would need to safely transition and navigate through a pandemic era while staying hydrated and cool.

All of this was provided for by a generous organization who's desire and passion was to provide "Heat Relief" in Arizona during the summer months, specifically within Sierra Vista and its surrounding communities.

Lt. Heather concluding out sermon series today with, "The Always God, Is Always Restoring" from Jeremiah 18: 1-6.

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.

1st Tuesday Food Box Distribution here in Hereford & Sierra Vista!

10/05/2021

Yesterday was a special day as we were privileged to enroll SEVEN Local Officers to the Sierra Vista Corps & Community Center!

Local officers act as Lay leadership within the ministry of the corps,

Left to right (starting in back row)
Martin Carrillo - Transportation Sergeant
Albert Umphrey - Men's Ministries Leader
Ronald Lenhardt - Assistant Transportation Sergeant
Carolyn Brown - kitchen Coordinator Sergeant
Eva McElroy - Greeter
Tonie Esteban - Welcome Sergeant
Nellie Arellano - Home League Chaplain

To God be the Glory!

Lt Heather and I are just so grateful and encouraged for each and everyone one in this photo, and are completely blessed even more for their commitment to step up and get involved. Some of them have already been doing some of these things for some time now, but we wanted to make it official and recognize them for what God is already using them to do for His Kingdom.

Additionally, we are also super excited to see each of these commissions and ALL the things that God has been doing with them and through them, in these roles.

We are also encouraged to see how God WILL use them and mold them in the ministry they are going to be involved in, to save souls, build saints, and serve a suffering humanity.

closing words as Lt Ty Baze provided their signed commissions both by the Divisional Commander and Corps Officers'

"Just like your Soldiers and Adherents covenants, that many of you signed, …I want to encourage you to keep them in a place where you can see them on a daily basis, ----not only to remember this special occasion, but to also REMIND you of the commitment that you made to serve God and His people.

I want to share a quote that William Booth the founder of The Salvation Army was quoted as saying, some time ago. And it is my hopes that it would ENCOURAGE you and inspire you,…. as it did me.

“I will tell you the secret: God has had all that there was of me. There have been men with greater brains than I, even with greater opportunities, but from the day I got the poor of London on my heart and caught a vision of what Jesus Christ could do with me and them, on that day I made up my mind that God should have all of William Booth there was. And if there is anything of power in the Salvation Army, it is because God has had all the adoration of my heart, all the power of my will, and all the influence of my life.” – William Booth

God, we thank you that these men and women have answered Your call-in leadership, and this commitment to lead Your People with their gifts - that You have already given them.

God, we pray that they continue to keep their eyes on You, and You alone in using these gifts, as well as in everything they do.

We pray that as they step forward into Your calling that they continue to look to You, and Your direction for this ministry. We pray that they will NOT rely on their own strength, but Yours Lord.

God, we pray that they will be wise in leading this congregation in these commissions, and that You would provide them with an obedient heart to discern between what is YOUR will, ….and what is theirs.

God, more than anything, we ask that YOU fill them with Your Holy Spirit, so that they will walk BOLDLY and WORTHY of Your calling on their life, and so that they are confident to build up others in their own gifts as well.

We ask all of these things in Your Son’s MIGHTY name, Amen.
