North Louisiana Historical Association
The North Louisiana Historical Association promotes the history of North Louisiana. It publishes its journal, North Louisiana History, twice yearly.

After our NLHA meeting at Centenary on Feb. 22, the fabulous Krewe of Centaur Parade will take place in Shreveport beginning at 3:30 p.m. Attendees for the meeting & museum tour have the option to stay in town for what is probably North Louisiana's largest Mardi Gras event! A crowd of 200,000 is expected, and there may be NLHA members who would like to bring their families. Centenary assures us the streets around the museum will not be affected by the parade traffic, but you should have time to get to the parade route after the tour with little trouble. It is, of course, entirely up to you whether to go to the parade after the NLHA meeting.

LSUS History Department exploring oldest Shreveport cemetery SHREVEPORT, La. – Walk around Shreveport’s historic Oakland Cemetery, the city’s oldest cemetery established in 1847 as City Cemetery, and many things likely catch the eye.

The "Most Endangered Places" List of the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation brings attention to sites that may be lost without prompt intervention. Do your part to save Louisiana history by nominating an endangered place in your community.
Most Endangered Places – Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation Since 1999, the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation has maintained the LOUISIANA’S MOST ENDANGERED PLACES LIST, and advocated to save these threatened sites.

A little behind schedule, but the latest issue of North Louisiana History is in the mail. The next issue will release first of March, so any submissions need to be sent to the editor at [email protected] as soon as possible.

Outstanding meeting of the Association at the Chennault Aviation & Military Museum in Monroe on November 16. Thanks to all who attended and welcome to our newest members. Planning is underway for our next meeting at Centenary College in Shreveport.
