Breaking the cycle of human trafficking through prevention and support resources.
We are a passionate group of concerned citizens desiring change in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. Vision
To stop human trafficking and help those affected by it in Sheboygan County. Mission
To work in partnership with our community and others to break the cycle of human trafficking through prevention and support resources.
Today starts Su***de Prevention Month.
A survivor of s*x trafficking reached out to us because she was feeling emotionally overwhelmed and struggling with suicidal thoughts. She expressed how much it meant for her to talk with someone who understood human trafficking and admitted that had she not talked with someone she was thinking about overdosing on her prescription medication. One of our Survivor Support Team Members met with her several times and gave her hope.
If you or someone you know is considering su***de, you are not alone. There is help. Call or text Prevent Su***de Wisconsin at 988.

Did you know the average age at which a victim is brought into trafficking is just 13? 😢
Alarmingly, social media has become the primary hunting ground for traffickers. In Dodge County, WI, this harsh reality shook the community over 10 years ago when 5-Stones began their mission to combat s*x trafficking.
5-Stones' Prevention Stone focuses on lessening the demand for s*x trafficking by protecting children from predators online and encouraging parents to shield their kids from exposure to po*******hy, which is an undeniable link to the s*x trafficking industry.
We’re proud to partner with 5-Stones, and, with your help, support the amazing work they do every day.
Together, we can make a difference. Let's spread awareness and take action to protect our children. 💪❤️

A week ago, a few us made an out of state trip to network and serve with others who are fighting human trafficking. Honestly, I was not sure what to expect when visiting the safe homes on this trip. I prayed for wisdom, an open heart, an open mind, and for servant hands.
When we arrived at the first safe home property, we were told that there was a war going on, and I was uncertain of what this meant. We learned that a wolf was hiding in sheep's clothing at the safe home and was continuing to prey on the vulnerable women looking for safety. We learned the local Sherriff was in on trafficking with this wolf. How appalling! Despite this evil, the network of safe homes is stronger, and the women were moved to another safe home out of state.
Without hesitation, we were diligent in prayer for the safe homes, the women within them, and those overseeing them. Then, we got to work, and we worked hard, because we knew our efforts were worthy. The week passed quickly, but we left with a stronger understanding and desire to keep moving forward.
Less than half of 1% of trafficked persons reach out for help. I cannot imagine the courage and strength it takes to break free. Whether these survivors are rescued by anti-trafficking efforts or they escape on their own, it is important they have a safe place to heal. The need for good people to provide this safety is real, and the need for more safe homes is necessary. We will continue our efforts to make this happen in Sheboygan County and through out the country.
I am thankful for this trip, and the deeper understanding it gave me about the importance of Freedom Cry's efforts. If you are moved to join me and others, I'd love to have a conversation with you.
Determined,
Mel Norling

Incident: Significant Arrest and SWAT Operation
Authority: Sheriff Ryan F. Waldschmidt
On Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 12:12am, deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a private residence in rural town of Oakfield for a s*xual assault complaint. The caller was a resident reporting a 12 year old female had just showed up at his door seeking help. She had just fled from a vehicle in the area where an adult male had bound and blindfolded her and was attempting to assault her. Bravely, she was able to fight back, break free from the suspect and vehicle, and ran to the house for help. Due to the nature of the allegations, detectives were called in to continue the investigation which progressed rapidly over the course of the next 40+ hours. Detectives were able to determine the identity and location of the suspect and tactical plan was developed to take him into custody. The Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, with the assistance of the Fond du Lac Police Department SWAT team, executed a search warrant at a residence on Marquette Street in the City of Fond du Lac Monday evening. During the SWAT operation the suspect was eventually taken into custody without incident.
This investigation is complex and involves numerous serious potential crimes including s*xual assault of a child, false imprisonment, child human trafficking, failure to protect a child, and others. It is alleged that the suspect paid the victim’s mother, who he knew, in exchange for spending time alone with the victim. Sheriff’s detectives have determined the suspect of the assault is a 30 or 31 year old Nicaraguan man (legal identity yet to be determined based on multiple aliases) who entered the United States illegally from Mexico into Texas in October of 2021. At that time he was apprehended by US Customs and Border Protection agents, processed at a federal facility, and released from their custody with instructions to follow per current federal immigration policy. Detectives are still working to determine the immigration status of the victim’s mother. She has also been arrested for numerous crimes related to this incident, and both are currently in custody in the Fond du Lac County Jail. Further arrests may be forthcoming once the remainder of the investigation is complete.
The juvenile victim and her siblings have all safely been taken into protective custody by the Fond du Lac County Human Services.
Further details of this case will be released in a criminal complaint when the suspects are criminally charged. Until that time, Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing additional information, as the investigation remains open and ongoing.
Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt would like to acknowledge and thank the many local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and officers who worked tirelessly since early Sunday morning to locate and safely take into custody the suspects involved in this investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the following agencies:
Fond du Lac Police Department
Wisconsin Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigations
Department of Homeland Security
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement
Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue
North Fond du Lac EMS
Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office
