Bookworm Gardens
Bringing books to life, one garden at a time! Open to general visitors May 1 - October 31
Bookworm Gardens is a vibrant, playful 7.5 acre botanic garden inspired by literature, the natural world, and the imagination. Located in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, our mission is to inspire the love of books and nature in the young and young at heart.
The Oostburg High School Homecoming Court proves you’re never too old to be a Bookworm. Thanks for taking your photos in the Gardens!
🎃 We need your pumpkins! Paint them, embellish them, cover them in glitter — we want to see your creativity shine!
Our pumpkin walk begins this week during Happily Haunted. Drop off your masterpiece anytime this Wednesday through Friday from 9am-4pm.
Join us for Happily Haunted Fridays through Sundays October 11-13, 18-20, and 25-27 from 5-8pm. Members get in for free this weekend!

Bring your dog to Bookworm! That's right, for the first time ever, we are opening the gates to your canine companions during Happily Haunted Hounds 🐾 Thursday, October 10 from 5-7pm.
This is the Happily Haunted you know and love, with one night dedicated to the dogs. 🐶
To help us promote the event, we asked some VIPs (very important pups) from the Humane Society of Sheboygan County to walk the grounds and strike a pose. Some took the assignment very seriously and came dressed to impress. All of these dogs are available for adoption!
Tickets and more information about Happily Haunted Hounds, including guidelines for your dogs can be found on our website: https://www.bookwormgardens.org/happily-haunted-hounds

This community is simply the best. We had 50 volunteers from Masters Gallery Foods, Inc. and KOHLER helping during United Way of Sheboygan County’s . They were able to complete huge projects that would have taken our team weeks to finish. Our entire core site (where the yurt and additional bathroom building are located) was graded, mulched, and pathways were put in. Treat bags were stuffed. Animal structures for Happily Haunted were strung with lights and placed in their positions. The Magic School Bus got a thorough cleaning. The speed and efficiency of this group was second to none. Thank you to all of the organizations lending a helping hand to the nonprofits in Sheboygan County. You have all made such a big difference.
A spooky looking plant to get us prepared for our not-so-spooky October event season. We spotted doll’s eyes, otherwise known as White Baneberry, in a secluded spot in the Gardens this week. This native plant gets its name because the fruit resembles a doll’s eye. As with many plants, these berries are highly toxic, so they are only found in areas not accessible to visitors here at Bookworm.
Come celebrate the not-so-spooky season with us! With Boos + Brews, Happily Haunted, and Happily Haunted Hounds – there’s something for everyone.

🍬 Bags of individually wrapped candy can be dropped off this weekend at the front gate from 9am-5pm, or weekdays between 9am-4pm.
👻 All of our Happily Haunted visitors thank you!
We had a great evening for our New Garden Celebration last night. Our members got to learn more about the newest garden spaces at Bookworm including Frog and Toad, Ada Twist, Scientist, The Rainbow Fish, and The Pout-Pout Fish. We are so thankful for the support of our members year-round, and this was a delightful way to thank them.
Special thanks to Sweet Treats, Masters Gallery Foods, Inc., and Old Wisconsin for their generous donations of cupcakes, cheese, and turkey sausage.
