A couple weeks ago at Exhibitions, our 4/5 grade classes showed off their musical talents and their education on the Revolutionary War by putting their own twist on the modern song, Old Town Road! Many facts were learned through the music and lyrics, as a class unit.
In music class, they discussed working together toward a common goal of understanding the events of the American Revolution, and the importance music played in a soldier’s daily life — The pipe and drum were instrumental in the events of the day; waking-up, eating, time for daily chores, sun down and so on, musicians led the soldiers into battle, unarmed, as they led with great courage.

Earlier this month, Étude High School student, Kai, attended the Global Youth Institute, a conference bringing together youth voices from around the world to address critical global food security challenges. At the event, Kai had the opportunity to present research on food security issues, participate in hands-on group projects, and engage in workshops led by leaders in agriculture, climate change, and sustainability. The event fostered meaningful discussions with international experts, helping students like Kai develop leadership skills and broaden their understanding of global food challenges. At Étude Schools, unique experiences like this one make a big difference in learning outside the classroom. #etudeschools #sheboyganareaschooldistrict #sheboygancharterschool
Beckah DeYoung, Ètude staff member, and student, Leo, are participating in the Changemaker Cohort, a program by @eaglerockschool that focuses on social justice and anti-racism. Through adult-student partnerships, the cohort promotes collaboration, wellness, and the power of shared decision-making. It started this summer, with five days out at Eagle Rock in Colorado! They did a lot of teambuilding and empathy work to build their own relationship in order to work productively through the year/ Together, Beckah and Leo are working to create positive change in our school community by exploring innovative solutions and participating in empathy-based interviews and activities. We’re looking forward to hearing more from these two about their interviews and experiences! #etudeschools #sheboygancharterschool #eaglerockschool #sheboyganpublicschool #charterschoolforthearts #artsandacademics #sheboygan #sheboyganwi #publiceducation #changemakerscohort #etudehighschool
Our kindergarteners released their butterflies last week! This is always a favorite at the beginning of the school year. In the first days of school, Ètude kindergarten classes received caterpillars 🐛 They observed & documented them throughout their life cycle in their scientific drawing books and were finally able to release them last week. These types of interactive learning experiences keep our students excited about school! #etudeschools #sheboygancharterschool #sheboygan #sheboyganpublicschool #projectbasedlearning #etudeelementary
Last June, Étude student, Julian Panzer participated in Wisconsin Leadership Seminar. We are excited to welcome our bees back to Etude! Our bees will spend a few weeks in this hive before they are moved to our observation hive. Stay tuned as our hive settles in.
EHS students celebrated their final IndieLens viewing at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center with “The Tuba Thieves,” a documentary on the role of sound and what it means to listen. The Doorknobs performed as the high schoolers held balloons and physically interacted with the stage to experience sounds in different ways.
Logan and Harrison gave us a student perspective on learning from local luthier, Mark Labinski, during the guitar development and rock band program at Ètude. It’s these types of educational experiences and learning opportunities that give our students the Ètude edge.
