'Twas the day before school starts. The bulletin boards are hung. The classrooms are decorated. The schedules are printed. The staff is excited to meet everyone. We are ready to start the school year!
A few important reminders:
*School hours are 7:40-3:03 EVERY DAY this year. No more short Wednesdays!
*All students will receive a new printed schedule during Homeroom. They do not need to bring theirs from Open House.
*All medications taken at school require a Medication Authorization form to be on file! THIS INCLUDES OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION. Forms can be found in our office!
*If you are picking your child up in front of the school at the end of the day, you may not pull in front of a yellow bus.
We cannot wait to see what joys this school year brings us!
Don't forget about our Open House tomorrow!
Students and families are all invited to attend. Students will get their schedules, meet their teachers, and find their lockers.
Student Council will be hosting a bake sale as well as selling apparel! We also have many community programs attending as part of our Family Resource Fair.
We hope to see you there!
Open House is Tuesday, August 27th 5:30PM-7:30PM!

FIELD DAY 2024!
Each year, our students get to celebrate the end of the school year with Field Day. Students were able to spend a big part of their day being active, laughing with friends, and getting time outdoors. With events like tug-of-war, water brigade, tire relays, and NFL Combine, students competed to earn points for their homeroom classes. The winners will be announced at our assembly on the last day of school.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Braaksma and Mr. Lor for organizing the event!
Sixth grade students went to the Sheboygan Wastewater Treatment Plant and the Sheboygan Water Utility Plant for a whirlwind water experience. They found out answers to questions such as, “Where does the water come from when I turn on my kitchen faucet?” and “Where does the waste go when I flush the toilet in my bathroom?” This complements our water goal of how water is constantly moving and cycling all over Earth.
As we head into our last week of school, here are some things you need to know!
*There will be no after school activities or late bus at all next week.
*Tuesday is Field Day for all grades. Students should wear clothing they are comfortable running around in. There is a possibility of getting wet, so an extra set of clothes is recommended.
*Wednesday is the Civil War Water Battle for 8th grade students. A change of clothes is recommended.
*Friday is a two-hour early release. Students will be dismissed at 1:03PM
Seventh grade students learned about the Holocaust during the fourth quarter. Eva Zaret came to share her experiences as a little girl during the Holocaust. Students were also able to experience ghettos and concentration camps through the VR glasses!
The Wisconsin Sea Grant partnered with Bay Lake Regional Planning Commission (BLRPC) on a project related to flood preparedness and climate in northeast Wisconsin. They created a Water Shed game that our sixth graders were able to play!
All three grades have field trips next week! If you have not already signed their permission slip in Skyward Family Access, please do so as soon as possible.
If you need assistance, please call our main office at 920-459-3666!
Our Recognition Night will be held in the auditorium at 7:00PM this Friday! Letters were sent out earlier this month informing those who are winning awards.
The 8th grade dance will take place in the gym from 8:00-9:30. Please arrange for your student to be picked up promptly at 9:30.
Bringing literature to life!
Seventh-grade students in Ms. Dust and Mrs. Thone's ELA classes completed a novel study on the book 'A Long Walk To Water'. As a culminating activity and a lesson on empathy, students participated in a mile walk. They carried gallon jugs filled with water. Students experienced just a small glimpse of the struggles facing the main characters in the novel.
We will be hosting our final Band concert of the year this Thursday at 7:00PM! We hope to see you there!
Here's a friendly reminder that we are out of school Friday, May 24th and Monday, 27th!

Our most recent drawing had a big winner!! Cleo tried her luck and won 4 times! Way to go, Cleo, and congratulations to all of the winners!
Mental Health Ambassadors from South High came to visit our middle school students this week in an effort to "end the stigma" associated with talking about mental health. They took the opportunity to break down barriers and discuss how to support others in times of struggle, choose our words carefully, and empathize with all. 121 students chose to sign a pledge, committing to do their part to end the stigma around mental health!
