Failing Upward Music

We are extremely excited to announce the birth of our band; Failing Upward.

Originating from the vibrant music scene of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Failing Upward is a four-piece powerhouse igniting stages with their high-energy blend of punk and alt-rock. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Anberlin, Sleeping with Sirens, NOFX, and Muse, Failing Upwards delivers a sonic onslaught that resonates with listeners across diverse musical spectrums.

At the helm, Derek Petaccio from Pottstown, PA commands attention with his electrifying vocals, while Christian Alexander, hailing from Elkton, Maryland, infuses the band's sound with dynamic guitar riffs and compelling backup vocals. Greg Luty, representing Media, PA, lays down the groove on bass guitar while adding his distinct vocal flair, while Danny Batdorf, originally from Wyomissing, PA, propels the rhythm forward with his powerhouse drumming.

Behind the scenes, Failing Upward's origin story is as compelling as their music. Introduced in late 2023 through mutual connections, Danny and Christian's musical chemistry was evident from the get-go. Their search for the perfect lineup led them to Greg, whose seamless integration into the band solidified their sonic identity. Completing the roster, Derek's emotive vocals and lyrical prowess added the final piece to the Failing Upwards puzzle.

The band's moniker, Failing Upward, encapsulates their journey and ethos. Rooted in the belief that failure is not the end but a stepping stone to growth, Failing Upward embraces life's trials and tribulations, channeling them into raw, authentic lyrics that resonate with audiences worldwide.
