PCOAMERICA’s programs work across the full spectrum of community and economic development in African communities. Drawing on the ancient African philosophy of Ubuntu, meaning “the quality of being human.” Ubuntu manifests itself through various human acts of community, clearly visible in social, political, and economic situations, as well as among family. It is expressed in the African saying “Ubuntu ngumtu ngabanye abantu” (“A person is a person through other people”). These include:
