🎙️ NEW EPISODE OUT NOW! 💙❤️

As parents, caregivers, advocates, appointment schedulers, medication managers, therapists, researchers, and everything in between, we’re often so focused on caring for everyone else that we forget to care for ourselves.

In this solo episode, Kari asks an important question:

💛 Who regulates the regulator?

Join Kari for an honest conversation about self-care, mental load, burnout, and why taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary.

Because you matter too.

Because your needs matter too.

And because the person holding everything together deserves support as well.

💛 MILESTONE MONDAY 💛

Sometimes the victories that mean the most would look “small” to everyone else…

…but to us? They’re everything.

A new word.
A safe appointment.
A successful therapy session.
A full night of sleep.
A first bite of food.
A calmer day.
One less alarm.
One more step forward.

So tell us:

✨ What’s one moment that reminded you how strong your child really is? ✨

We want to celebrate with you. 💙❤️

💙❤️ A little Behind the Capes check-in ❤️💙

Life has been a little extra full lately.

Between end-of-school activities, family commitments, a wedding, work, and getting ready for some much-needed family vacations, things have been a little hectic behind the scenes.

We know we’ve been quieter than usual, and we wanted to let you know we’re still here.

Kari and I have been working on finding time to sit down and record together, and we already have some great conversations and ideas we’re excited to share with you soon.

In the meantime, thank you for sticking with us, listening, sharing episodes, and being part of this amazing community.

Your support means more than you know.

We’re taking a deep breath, making some memories with our families, and we’ll be back behind the microphones before you know it.

And as always…

We’re so glad you’re here. 💛

💛 TO THE PARENTS…

Today we’re thinking about the parents sitting in therapy waiting rooms.

The ones driving across town after work.

The ones squeezing appointments into already packed schedules.

The ones cheering for every new skill, every small step, and every hard-earned victory.

The ones who spend their time waiting, hoping, encouraging, and believing.

Therapy days can be exhausting.

They can also be filled with some of the biggest wins.

If this is part of your story, we want you to know something:

We see the miles.
We see the effort.
We see the advocacy.
And we see you. 💛

“Behind every superhero kid…”

is a parent who became brave without meaning to…

But somewhere between hospital rooms, hard conversations, emergency bags, and advocating for our kids…

we became stronger than we ever imagined.

One of the things we talk about often on Behind the Capes is the gap between a diagnosis and a life.

A diagnosis can tell you about medical possibilities, statistics, and potential challenges.

It cannot tell you who a child will become.

It cannot predict the love they will inspire, the relationships they will build, or the impact they will have on the people around them.

As medical moms, we know firsthand that these journeys can be hard. We also know they can be filled with joy, growth, laughter, and moments that change us forever.

To anyone navigating a new diagnosis today: we see you, we support you, and we hope you find the balanced information and community you deserve. 💙💛

💛 TO THE PARENTS…

Today we’re thinking about the parents waiting for test results.

The waiting.
The wondering.
The hoping.
The fear.
The questions.

If this is part of your story, we want you to know something:

You are not alone.

The Behind the Capes community is full of families who understand what it’s like to carry things most people never see.

We see you. 💛
